Guest guest
This is good advise.I think most of the members on this group have learned from their own experience and by educating themselves, that is why we seem passionately opinonated and also because a lot of us have suffered due to the indifferent atitude of the medical community.Maybe that is the reason why we all feel the need to help in whatever small way, so as to alleviate some of the misery the undiagnosed/newbies might otherwise have to endure. But as advises, use your own discretion and dont blindly follow the suggestions given. Good Luck! Puneet --- " L. on " <res075oh@...> wrote: > Hi, Misty. Guest guest
Hi Misty, I had a thought that you should also check out the Thyroid helpers forum on - one of the moderators there has a daughter a bout your age who has been ill for many years as well and struggles with a lot of the same things you do - and there are quite a few young people there - I suggest this because I believe that its important to be able to talk to people your own age and because when we are older as I am (47 - oops 48 - there goes another one LOL) there are a lot of issues involved with ageing and hormones which simply would not be relevant to you. I would suggest that you check out the Top docs list on Shomon's website as well.....or find an osteopath in your area - it is crucial you find a good doctor - some of us here self medicate but we're older and have less to lose in a way - I would not recommend you do this at your age - or at least not until you have tried everything else. I totally understand why you would be embarrassed to go to the doctor - they can be so insensitive and often just plain stupid - that's why its important at this point to take some time to research and find a good doc. On 's website there are a lot of articles and in particular some with the questions you should ask when you do find your new doc. I hope this helps, Kerry New to the Group Hi Everyone, My name is Misty and as you can tell from the subject line I'm new. I think I may have hypothyroidism but I'm not sure. Everything I read tells me something different. I'm terrified of going to the doctor and having him tell me I'm crazy or just looking for an excuse because I'm overweight. But I don't think I'm crazy. I've been overweight my ENTIRE life and I'm 22. Right now by medical standards I'm morbidly obese (a label that I'm sure the world could have done without). I don't eat anymore than anyone else I know or anymore than I always have and no matter how much I exercise I keep gaining weight slowly. I was really excited about going to college because I was going to have to do a LOT of walking and I was sure I would lose weight once I got away from my moma's home cooking and into some regular exercise. Instead I just kept gaining. Lately I've been feeling worse. I work a full time job and go to graduate school which would tire anyone out but the way I'm feeling is more. My body temperature is always around 96.5, my feet are always painfully swollen, the outsides of my feet are too sore to touch, when I walk anywhere I lose my breath and have to stop, my knees ache all the time, my nails are brittle, I have trouble sleeping sometimes and then sometimes I sleep so soundly that I can't seem to pull myself out of sleep and I get depressed sometimes and just feel like crying for hours but I'm regularly a pretty happy person despite my size. My GP is always trying to tell me that I am remarkably healthy for someone my size... my blood pressure and sugar levels are normal. He acts like its all my fault that I'm overweight and puts me on diets that never work. I was thinking of taking Alvidar without seeing a doctor just so I wouldn't have to go through the embarassment of another one telling me I'm crazy. I'm sorry this email was sooo long. I just thought someone here might understand what I'm going through and I would finally have someone to talk to who understands. Thanks, Misty

Guest guest
Simon: This is not but I wanted to comment on a few things, I went to a site - its Dr Burzynski's site - and got his number and called, his sec sent me a file. its astronomical in price but.. there was a four or five page booklet and it talked awhole lot about prostate cancer, all these vitamins and stuff to do for it. He's an alternative doctor just in Texas I think. Take a look, there's also another site I found through these wonderful people here. its called Can Help and I haven't looked into it but it read great on the home page. I have breast cancer and am doing the alternative treatment also. I have several appts with naturopaths to get there take and maybe more wisdom then I have on the subject. My surgeon wanted to do a mastectomy and chemo in four weeks. I won't be seeing her anytime soon. Well good luck with this, there is definitely hope and I pray you gleen for all of these posts and find whats right for you. Frann Simon Bronson wrote: I had surgery (prostatectomy) and radiation for prostate cancer in 2000. I had 31/2 years cancer free. My PSA began rising in April of 2004. Along with that, pain developed in my groin. At first the pain was a 2 or 3 on a scale of 1 to 10. Last month I was rating it at a 4 or 5. Today I'm calling it 1 to 2. I skeptically began doing the fo/cc and ground flaxseeds 3 times daily, along with eating fresh fruit, vegetables(esp. garlic and tomatoes), fish, cod liver oil, etc. Before that, my diet was 'typical american.' I think the pain has subsided because of this. There were 2 days when it got back to a 4 or 5, but the rest have been almost pain free. My plan is to skeptically continue the Budwig Protocol. I want to especially thank Olson for her insights on Budwig.

Guest guest
Hi Jeanette Welcome. I also have PA and fibromyalia, with occaional migraines. I believe there are a lot of us that have fibromyalia along with the PA. That's so we can have pain in our muscles as well as in our joints! lol You have to find your humor wherever you can these days. Does the methotrexate make you sick? I've taken it for almost 4 years now and it still gets to me whether I take folic acid (which is supposed to help) or not. I find eating chocolate after taking the pills helps me most. And peppermint tea. God Bless! Janet in Ca

Guest guest
Hi Janet: Sorry for my delay in answering, been under the weather. I haven't had a long treatment with it yet. I took it for 6 weeks, had the blood work done, missed a week for that, went back on a week, dizzy, and got a sinus infection, which I keep getting chronically, and so I am off it again. Doc said can't take if sick. I also take the B12 as I was low in that. I didn't notice feeling sick from it, but this sinus infection has made me really sick to my stomach, just started anti biotics again.....Thanks for the welcome !! Guest guest
Jeanetta, Your story sounded alot like mine so had to email you. I have suffered with sinus infections so bad. Seems like I was not normal case either. Just seems to hit all of a sudden by being dizzy. The being dizzy just knocks me down and so sick to my stomach. Usually it takes from 3 to 4 rounds of antibiotics to finally get rid of it. Been on Enbrel for over a year but have to get off the Enbrel about 3 months then when I go back on it it seems like it does not work as good. Just wanted you to know you are not alone. I hate it when my sinuses are bad cause it makes me soooo sick. Blessings, Zoella " The only people to get even with are those who have helped you. Guest guest
Hi Zody: Thanks for the email. Yes, I agree, the sinus infections really knock you down. I get so weak. I usually do ok with one round, but a 3-4 weeks later I have it back. I don't know if I will ever find out if the Mexotrxate works. I have to go off it everytime I get sick, so it is up and down. Not good really. Thanks Jeanette French Re: [ ] New to the Group Jeanetta, Your story sounded alot like mine so had to email you. I have suffered with sinus infections so bad. I call it the 'Taj Mahal', as it is rather grand! I may even paint it 'calming' colours. LOL I even thought about playing some classical music for them for more egg laying! Oh dear! LOL Got 3 eggs from my girls today and made up a nice omelette for lunch. Started on the veggie patch today. I didn't realise how HEAVY concrete slabs can be!!! Ouch! 6 down and 14 to go! Then it's putting the railway sleepers in place, preparing the soil and finally planting seeds. So exited about all of this! So, who can give me some quirky names for my 4 new chooks? ) Luv Jen x

Guest guest
Onibasu comes up looking fine for me. Are you using an obsolete browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape? Be sure to use the latest versions of those or, better yet, switch to Firefox, Opera, or Safari to seriously improve your quality of life... You could also try emailing the fine folks behind Onibasu because they might like to be aware of this problem. Hope that helps.
