Guest guest
Welcome to the group Sharon! Glad to have you! Nope, don't use Betalean, Hydroxycut, or any other ephedra containing products because I am entered in the Challenge and it's against the rules. - *moderator and coach*
Guest guest
Hi Sharon, Wow, you are doing really well. Congratulations on your fantastic results thus far. Soon you'll see that 199 on the scale and the muscles will begin to show. Keep going and keep us posted on your progress. Good luck, you're certainly dedicated! Laner. Guest guest
I don't use ephedra based products either. Even St. 's Wort had my heart racing! Phen Free made me hyper, anxious and nervous...don't need to feel that, so I tossed mine. There's a sense of satisfaction within knowing that I lost a lot of fat from exercise and good ole nutrition. Just my 2 cents worth. Leaner.
Guest guest
Hi my name is Sharon I just found this group last night and joined so now would like to introduce myself. I am almost finished with my first challenge it will be over on Oct.15. I joined everyone of them this year and this one stuck and I havent missed one day of my exercise. When I started I weighed 267 and only 5' tall. So I started very fat and out of shape hadnt exercised in years never liked it. I am 42 years old and when I started my body fat % was 42.5% . I have nowlost down to 211 and cant wait too see 199 and get out of these 200 numbers. I will let you know the inches lost and all on the 15th when I do my measuring and all. I am now loving the weight lifting. I do my exercse at home I live out in the country and it is too far to the city and a gym. For my cardio I use exercise tapes and they are working good for me now. I use the myoplex light. I an feel changes in muscles lie in my arms and legs under the fat I can feel a muscle growing and the excites me. It isnt a change I can see in the mirror but I can feel a difference and that keeps me going. I will continue the program through the year and be ready for the first challenge of next year. I would lke to know if any one uses the fat burners like Betalean or Hydroxycut? I was thinking of trying one of the fat burners. I have a LOT of fat to get rid of. Hope to hear from all of you. This seems like a great group of people. Thanks for listening, Sharon

Guest guest
Still can't read directly but a text attachment comes with the message and I was able to read it. Welcome to the group Sharon. Don't know why I have this problem. Could be the firewall on our server. Supplements are optional with Myoplex being a highly recommended time saver and an aid to controlling or at least accounting for how much you eat per day. A good multivitamin, vitamin c and vitamin E are recommended as well as EFA's (essential fatty acids) which can be in the form of omega 3s, fish oil, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), flax seeds, flax seed oil, olive oil, or lots of tuna and salmon or mackerel (yuck), herring (so-so), kippers (not bad) or anchovies. Hard work and six small balanced meals is the key and action and planning of course. Have fun. Kit :=) -----Original Message-----From: SKLOSEE@... Guest guest
Sharon, That is increadible!! And with a scale loss of 56 pounds, I'd say you don't need any help burning fat!! I've thought about using Phen-Free, but for now I am trying to do this using only things that I'll be happy doing permanently. If I get to a point where the fat is just not budging, I might add it as a kick in the pants. I can't wait to see your results on the 15th! Are you going to put your " before/after " pics somewhere? I know that can be daunting, but a few weeks ago there was a lot of discussion on one of the lists about we larger ladies needing to see women who started where we are, and where they ended up. Yes, this is a terrific program, but we can't all realisticly expect to hit our perfect figure in 12 weeks, so we were looking for insperation for our goals. Guest guest
Hi Barbara I hadnt even thought about posting before and after pics now that s a scary thought that before picture for every one to see. yuck I am excited that I have got through the 1st challenge but a little nervous about doing the measements to see how things changed. I will let you know and everyone else here my results of all this hard work on the 15th. Seems like it has been years sinceI stuck to a diet or exercise program and it just feels good to know I was able to set my mind on doing something and staying focused on it and seeing it through. Guest guest
Once you take the essentials and get into the habit of six authorized meals a day and 6 BFL workouts a week, the rests is just tweaks and listening to your body and driving for daily progress. All the best! Kit :=) -----Original Message-----From: SKLOSEE@... Guest guest
Congratulations! If you are feeling better, stronger, are lifting more are doing you aerobics at a faster pace and especially if your clothes fit better you are seeing the type of progress that brings great results every 12 weeks. Stay with it and you will be delighted. Your goals are promises to yourself. Review them frequently and take action every day that supports those goals. I can't tell you after two rounds how good it feels to cross my workout off the list of daily actions that support my goals and how good it feels at the end of the day when I have my last meal which is a Myoplex Deluxe shake with extra protein powder mixed with skim milk. After finishing that about 9:30 or 10 pm. I get the satisfaction of crossing another self promise off the list. Makes that shake taste extra good. Keep up the good work and keep those daily promises and you will grow stronger and stronger in many ways some obvious and some as pleasant surprises along the way. All the best! Guest guest
Thanks Kit for all the help. I do keep a journal and write every thing down including the food I eat everyday. I keep myself focused on my goals with pictures of peoples bodys Id like to have like awsome arms and shoulders. I drink water all day like at the least 2 gallons specially on hot days here in Texas. The area of my body that needs the most work is my stomach it was big no muscle tone at all there for years so it kinda hung down but it is lifting up now so now the work to make i smaller begins. I still hate the squats as much today as day one! haha But gotta do those to lift that butt back up and fight gravity as I get older. haha I am taking this serious and concentrate on doing each exercise right and the muscle I am working. I do my exercise early in the morning before anyone else wakes up so I have that time for just me. I have friends that say I spend too much time thinging of what I need to do and I talk about this too much and get mad cause I am not there food friend anymore that would always go to the buffet restaurants with them. They ay I have changed too much. So I dont see them very much It is hard enough to stay focused some days without all that crap. So I was so very happy to find this board at e groups. Hope I dont drive you all nuts. Bye Sharon
Guest guest
Sometimes your friends just aren't ready for the change. They can either understand and support you or not. If they don't you need to hang with positive people and avoid those that are negative. It is difficult and I applaud your efforts. If your goals are important enough you can overcome this obstacle. Sounds like you are well on the way. My belly and my poor posture were my worst assets and I've improved both to the point that I take pride in the accomplishment. Still have further progress I'd like to make but I'm well along the path after 15 months with the last 9 on BFL. Keep at it and you will get better and before long your friends will be wishing they joined you. All the best! We are here with any questions and don't hesitate to join in and set us straight or share your inspirational stories and successes. Kit :=) -----Original Message-----From: SKLOSEE@... Guest guest
Hi Sharon! Your message was addressed to Kit, but you said a number of things that I can really relate to. I'm especially thrilled by your enthusiasm, your commitment - and one of the most important things: your clear focus on your personal reasons for pursuing a better Body-for-LIFE. My wife and I have been doing this for more than a year now, and without question, your words are inspiring me! :-) Here are some of the things that struck home with me. 1. It's great that you look at pictures of people that look the way you want to. That's a terrific way to help stay on track - to remind yourself why you are making this effort. 2. I agree that there are many benefits to working out first thing in the morning. That's what my wife and I do for nearly every workout, including for weight training. The many benefits include - as you point out - getting the workout in before others have a chance to distract you. Excellent work! 3. This thought of yours really struck me! You wrote: <<I have friends that say I spend too much time thinking of what I need to do and I talk about this too much>> My wife and I can certainly relate to that! Let me tell you a story. At work, a number of people have been struck not only by how dramatically my wife's appearance has improved while on the program. They've also been struck that she keeps looking better with time. They are also impressed that she sticks with it so well. So although some of my wife's co-workers notice that some people manage to lose weight with certain fad diets - her co-workers also notice that those same people tend to put it back on. On the other hand, her co-workers have noticed that my wife not only has kept her new shape - she's actually kept improving it. Which has said something to them about what makes the Body-for-LIFE method different. Some months ago, her boss (who is the president of the company) was so impressed with my wife's progress that he decided that he wanted to give the program a " go. " So Cherita gave him one of our copies of the *Body-for-LIFE* book to borrow, and he started. Within a mere few weeks he was complaining that he couldn't yet see a difference. (!!!) Isn't it fascinating how people expect to erase years of bad habits in the blink of an eye? And then claim that a program " can't work for them " when it doesn't produce miraculous results with minimal effort? He didn't give up yet. Not obviously, anyway. He still went to the gym and did his morning workouts. But at a deeper level, he did something else. Since this is an inside out program - one that depends on finding one's own reasons for doing it and that requires a person to reaffirm one's own commitment daily - his quick willingness to blame the program rather than to give it his all, meant that inside, he was giving up. Although he was eating the six meals per day, including three Myoplex shakes, my wife repeatedly caught him eating cupcakes and other junk food! She told me this one day after work and I said, " You two have a comfortable working relationship, and don't mind giving each other friendly criticism from time to time. Why not ask him, next time you see him do that, 'So how many Free Days per week do you have?' " So one day she asked him that. And of course, he had to admit that he was giving into temptation. It turned out that *every time* someone brought any junk food to work, he would go right ahead and eat it! How can anyone expect a program to work if they don't even stick to it? My point is that people like you - who give this some thought, who plan, who stick to the program and who take it seriously - are the ones who make progress. But people who make the errors that my wife's boss made fall off the horse and may not even get back on. (So far he hasn't resumed, though my wife hopes that he will someday, the right way.) So Sharon, please take pride in the fact that you are taking this seriously. That's the way to make progress. And I know from your message that you are already making progress! You also mentioned, about your friends, that they: <<get mad cause I am not there food friend anymore that would always go to the buffet restaurants with them.>> One of the most interesting discoveries my wife and I have made since we started BfL, is how much social pressure there is to give up whatever healthy habits you are trying to adopt. People actually pressure others to cave in to the unhealthy habits that they are trying to give up! As I've mentioned, junk food is constantly available at my wife's work. People are constantly offering her unauthorized foods - even though they know perfectly well that she eats that kind of food *only* on Free Day. They will say, " But this little bit won't hurt you. " Of course, when they say that, they fail to realize that one reason why the program works is that the eating of such unauthorized foods is *strictly limited* to one day. In other words, there is a plan. A plan which, when executed, will yield positive results. Considering that my wife has been doing this, consistently, for more than a year, I think that her co-workers are being a little insensitive when they persist in throwing temptation in her face like this. But my wife always refuses to give in. She's always been a strong person. But I think she's gained even greater inner strength by overcoming these challenges. My point is that you are hardly alone. I'm sure countless people who pursue *Body-for-LIFE* have noticed how willing friends and family - whom we normally consider our allies - are willing to set themselves up as our nutritional adversaries. Of course, some of it may be because some of these people don't yet appreciate how beneficial such a program is. In other cases though, it may be that some such people *want* you to fail, because they don't want to change, and another's positive change can be perceived as a threat. Ultimately, I think true friends will understand and be supportive of a person who is committing to make a positive life change. And a true friend will be willing to meet socially in circumstances other than those which require unhealthy eating. Food for thought. (Pun gratuitously intended. ;-) ) So I say: don't worry that others are saying that you think about this too much, that you plan too much, or that they would prefer it if you would follow their unhealthy patterns. Find more positive avenues in which to meet with them - and rocket toward your goals. By doing so, you will not only be achieving your dreams. You will also be setting the best, healthiest example that you can for your friends. More power to you, Sharon! Guest guest
Hi Theresa, Just recalling when my son (now almost 21) was evaluated around that age, the paperwork they sent me to fill out had questions/observations going all the way back to birth; so I had to pull out the " baby book " to recall some information (e.g., how old was he when... for milestones, etc.). Also there was a section for me to just write stuff, and I covered the things I noted when he was younger there too, even though he had improved in some of those areas by his present age. They also interviewed me too, so wasn't all just what I had written that was covered. If you haven't read much about Aspergers or just autism, I would start reading and note anything you see that applies to your daughter - even if just in a mild way - so that you can make sure to note these in the paperwork/interview; just saying that if you don't know much yet about Aspergers, you may not yet realize that some things you know about her are a trait of this. (hope that made sense) One place to start: http://www.udel.edu/bkirby/asperger/ Just some quick thoughts, > > Hi, my name is Theresa and I am a SAHM of two children. Guest guest
Theresa, regarding helpful things at home such as charts, schedules, those do help many children, at home and at school. My son was fine without them. As to food, we never tried any of the diets that many have found helpful. was such a picky, limited, eater back then that I didn't see how to try one! We tried for a bit to have him try just one new thing (a bite) a month. He did learn to like tacos that way. Food texture was apparently a problem for him with some items. With Aspergers, kids are still so different and individual. But anything you want to ask here, just ask! You'll receive lots of suggestions, ideas, what worked for others (but not for all), etc. And on the topic of school - those with school-age kids can definitely help for needs there! Did you get your appointments set up? > > I need to call the school Monday and set up the child study as well as > setting up with my daughters case worker for her to do the Psych-Ed Evals. > I am trying to equip myself with as much knowledge as I can so that I can > share it with my husband so that we can help her. Are there any things
