Guest guest
The Wescheler IQ test is a good basic test to have done by someone. In this test you will find out your child's reasoning skills (often what people refer to as potential) and then there are subscores that tell you if your child ahs some kind of an AS LD like slow processing speed or deficit working memory. If all subscores are at average or above good. Then the question left is there some attentional issues? Organizational issues? These are hard to get at without a full neuropsyclogical evaluation (costly $3000 or more). And you probably have a sense of your child's executive skills (how messy, how difficult to transition) without the test. A neuropsych eval is really good to use with schools when you want to get a child classified and you need standard scores. Schools do not do these tests ever. They sometimes pay for them to be done if the parents press hard. Are you after grade level information? I don't know what to recommend for getting at if your child is at grade level in math or reading or vocabulary. There are tests you can order from homeschool resource groups, not sure what though. The other tests an IEP team does is OT and PT evaluations and speech. You can contact private OTs, PTs and speech therapists and get evaluations. You need to get prescriptions from your child's peditrician for these. I hope this helps, Pam Pam > > I'm wondering what type of ability/educational tests are given after an Aspie diagnosis? This would specifically be for an IEP. I'm homeschooling so I don't have the benefit of the school district's help at this point. > Thanks, > Becky >
