Guest guest
Yes, I am dealing with similar issues with my aspie girl. She is overweight, has astma, epilepsy, gastro problems, ears problems, lung problems, muscles problems. Her medical providers are: pediatric neurlogist, pediatric pulmonary doctor, gastro enterologist, ear doctor, psyquiatrist, mental therapist, occupational therapist, eyes problems, orthopedic surgeon and her primary doctor.I payed two insurances, my primary insurance and mass health to help me with the expenses.24 hours work out with her. I have to buy equipment to continue the physical and occupational therapist at home and besides that I got a membership to the YMCA. She is very expensive...I barely make to pay my bills...She does not like meat, but loves carbohidrates, sugar and everything that is bad for her. I notice since I have been giving her the acid reflux medicine she is eating less. I also keep an almost empty refrigerator and go groceries shopping almost every day as a way to control her trips to the refrigerator. She complains of feet cramps, numbness, etc.Sometimes her left hand can't hold stuffs, but sometimes she hYes, I am going to the same stuff, I am in the run all the time.Lately things are getting better, the occupational, physical and mental therapist are working. Her balance has improved, she has lost some weight and her self estime is much better. Her astma and epilepsy are under control when she does not have a cold or an ear infection.Have your check him for muscular disorder? I will check my girl for that next.... ( ) worried about childs healthHello group:) We are going to alot of spec's docs. Gastro, neuro, developmental pedia, allergy asthma, dermatology, pt,st,ot, genetics, othro's, ent, etc. My son has HFA with his autism he has some comorid condtions. I was wondering if others have any of the conditions that may come with the autism or just have them. My son has hypotonia, excesise intolerance, gastrointestional problems, skin problems, asthma, allergy, ear infections, SPdsyfunction, overpronation of the feet, (leg cramps & pain). We went to pedia yesterday to get a checkup before school starts. We reveived all areas. They now think the severe eczema may be psorsis ( prob spelled that wrong). They want him to go on a diet. He is gaining to much weight. Thats where somewhat the autism comes in to play. He has issues with textures. One day he may eat a waffle then refuse it for a week. He eats no fruits (watermelon on a good day) No veggies. Meat only sausage (on a good day), chicken nuggets, hamburgar if its in taco's. So meat is limited also. He love pizza, mufins, and all junk ans starchy foods. He doesn't eat much though. What the pedia thinks is that he may not eat much ,but what he is eating is going striaght to calories. Causing him to gain alot of weight. Also we have the hypotonia which comes into play. He wants to run and play but he gets tired very quickly. He gets aggitated very quickly when his hands don't work so when he is trying to tye a jump rope or make a garage out of blocks when swinging he gets tired of holding on. I think the excersie intolerance has alot to do with the hypotonia. Then if he does play hard and pushes himself to play he gets leg cramps and pain. Will then limp on both legs and cry. Then at night it gets worse and he can't sleep well so we have to give pain med. Mournings then he will have trouble walking. Has trouble walking some mournings without playing hard the day before. One doc told us it was the autism and that he doesn't like the feel of the floor. Thats doesn't explain the pain part of it though or the swelling of feet and or legs. This has been going on since he was 1 1/2 and regressed into autism and epilepsy. His weight gain really started to get worse this year and as the hypotonia got worse and the excesise got worse. He weighs in at 81 for a 4 1/2 yr old. I don't want him to get diabetes or other health problems. What have some of other parents done to get there texture problmes kids to eat better? No doc has yet figured out what is going on with his legs and until they do I don't think he is going to do to much running. His seizure meds do cause him to have a lesser appitite. Does anyone going through this?
Guest guest
He has had an MRI of legs. That came back normal. They checked for arthritisis ,lyme, etc all that came back normal. I also buy alot of his physical thepry needs. We are in the process of building a pirate playground that has rock climb ( for his age of coarse) and other things that hopefully will help him to excerise more. Last night we took him to the parade and when we got him home his left leg was swollen along with his foot. He kept saying "how much to the truck" This was not that long of a walk. Of course also the sensory of all the people and noises and that was alot for him also. Usually if it to many he doesnt want to walk either. Thats what I thought it was. Nope his legs was hurting. Being such a short distance I didn't think it would hurt him. I really hope they figure this out soon. He is such a wonderful blessing. I breaks my heart to see him be in pain and not be able to play like he wants too. I'm going to try to get him eating the right foods. That is way harder than some would think LOL! As you know your ds seems to eat the same way mine does. I read that you daughter also has the numbness and feet cramps. MIne has that too. Sometimes he will just hurt, hurt, or "tingles mom" I talked to gentics this week to see if they would check for mitrochondrial. THey done vitamins def- normal all kinds of disease or condtions- normal, mri -normal. I pray to see him doing better. Take care and any more advice is accepted.
