Guest guest
*blush* Thank you, Joni. I care the world for her and hate to see her in such discomfort. Guest guest
We have been having such good days, went to Washington D.C. and it was great. Surprised the kids with a Chuck E cheese trip and had fun. Tonight however, has been horrible. DD came home from school and did not have a good day, few different things where she got upset over what someone else was doing. I get home, DD is yelling, DS who is NT is upset and yelling, and the MT was just arriving. I tried to cool them down, but DD is beside herself with her bad day. Then DS did not listen when I said not to shoot his nerf gun so I took it away so he procedes to throw things and get mad and go slam his door. He has an attitude, I am ready to scream! DD is in with her MT and I can hear her getting agitated and upset. Why did I come home??? Is this how it is always going to be?? Will I ever have a typical family night? I am so anxious about going on our first family trip in 4years next week. We are going to Buffalo for DS hockey tournament. I am hoping for a nice family break, but I am afraid I am going to be stressed out and it is going to be horrible. Any advice??
Guest guest
Have you tried speakers or iPod earphones to help keep the sounds of a busy house down for your autistic child. My daughter is most agitated when there is too many stimuli - especially sights and sounds. She has the sensory issues that most have. However, when she has some alone/quiet time when she first gets home, she is better later. I know its hard to eliminate all of the sensory overload, but if you can reduce the noises with earphones, this may help.
