Best of luck with what you decide. . ----Original Message Follows---- From: " tami rand " <pressdoc@...> Reply- onelist onelist Subject: [ ] natural remedies Date: Mon, 27 Mar 2000 17:07:57 -0000 I am a 35 year old female who was diagnoised w/ PA 3 months aftergiving birth to my daughter. Guest guest
, Very interesting. I use natural remedies that I can get from a health food store. One of my vets is a holistic vet, so she tells me what to buy. For example: I use a product called slippery elm for doodirhea. My rescue partner and I also do commercials with our cats (If you live in the DC area and have seen the MD Lottery commercial with the dog driving the car, the orange cat on the porch is my best friends cat). Anyway, on location, we use a product called " rescue rememdy " . We've also learned to mix up our own " remedies " with several different produts. Thanks for sharing. manda > > Hi, > > > > There are a few of us on this list who are into natural remedies, > however, there are some who oppose it and it can get pretty heated > up. Guest guest
oh, yes, I should have mentioned that you must ask the doctor, in fact, some of those ideas actually came from a doctor of mine from about 20 years ago. Thanks for clarifying! Re: Natural remedies , No one was actually opposed to natural remedies. What they were opposed to was post-ops advising other post-ops experiencing certain " problems " to do this or do that using herbs and stuff, BEFORE checking with their surgeon. Anytime you have had surgery, especially a surgery which alters your digestive system, you need to be cautious about what you put into that " new " system. I doubt the MGB was something that those folks coming up with natural remedies had ever had any experience with it. I think some of the herbal remedies are great. I just think when a person is less than six months to year, they need to be cautious and in touch with their doctor before taking meds or herbs. Just my .02 worth. Guest guest
I too am interested in this, as well as if anyone has had any success using acupuncture to treat allergies and/or polyps. Guest guest
Hi , I tried, got very ill and am not trying it again. But I also am severe so the doctor says. I am still trying to recover from the natural stuff given to me a year ago. I may possibly be the exception, but seems like I always get sicker after the 'natural approach even with acupuncture. Good luck what ever you decide. Each person is different. Natural Remedies > Hi everyone, > > Has anyone tried any of the natural remedies for your allergies? Guest guest
I tried acupuncture for a few months along with the herbal remedies prescribed by the the acupunturist/doctor. While I was amazed at the almost instantanious effects that accupuncture can produce, the effects were not long lasting or were perhaps targeted improperly. This was also before I understood all the different aspects of samters and so could'nt communicate them to the accupuncturist. If it was just allergies, and then mild allergies, I think accupunture would probably work well, but there is so much more going on with samters. Accupunture can also be pretty expensive as well as most insurance won't pay for it unless for cronic pain, i believe. I did the allergy shots as well for about three years ... long enought for my allergist and I to see that it wasn't doing much for my overall condition. In retrospect, I think that it can be a trap to focus too much on one thing like allergies, diet, whatever (ive done it plenty). To me it's all symptoms of a much deeper systemic problem. Since my surgery 6 months ago, I've noticed that my allergy-like symptoms have been slowly creeping back. Maybe it has something to do with spring time or maybe not. I think that my worsening allergy symptoms are connected to some sort of slowly spiraling downward circle (where the symptoms build up against each other somehow) that can only be truely affected by the harsher remedies like surgery or steroids. The anti-leukitrines (sp) seem good also and we need to have more things like that, that seem to address the roots of the problem. It has been comforting to me to be a part of this list and to see that there is no miracle cure or avenue that I haven't found or such because samters can be very very frustrating In short I guess that i'm trying to say that i think it's important to look at samters like arthritis instead of asthma / allergies / polyps. The accupunture, as i understand it, can " dry you out " for a week or so perhaps lessening the advance of the polyps and maybe making you feel a little better as well but it's something you would probably have to do almost every week. take care, snoochmail ------------------------ > >Hi everyone, > > > >Has anyone tried any of the natural remedies for your allergies? Guest guest
Hi , sorry to hear that your experience didn't go well. What had you tried? It may be an indicator for the rest of us as to what to be careful about. Take care. :-) >From: " Konkle " <tmiller@...> >Reply-samters ><samters > >Subject: Re: Natural Remedies >Date: Thu, 23 May 2002 23:01:23 -0800 > >Hi , > >I tried, got very ill and am not trying it again. Guest guest
For myself, I have noticed that the bigger my polyps are the bigger the allergy reaction I have. And the more allergy reactions the bigger my polyps get. I am lucky that my asthma is quite mild, so I am hoping that if I can control the allergies, the longer I can go without surgery. Thanks for sharing your info. :-) >From: " snoochmail " <outermission@...> >Reply-samters >samters >Subject: Re: Natural Remedies >Date: Fri, 24 May 2002 21:47:52 -0000 > >I tried acupuncture for a few months along with the herbal remedies >prescribed by the the acupunturist/doctor. Guest guest
Hi Andrine I was going to have a phone consult with Sue but then I heard from someone who had consulted with her, that she pushed products that she sells. She started out sending the products, saying they were free, then this person started getting bills for 300.00! I had a feeling that was how she worked, so I cancelled my ph consult with her. I spoke with a lymie would said the Makers Diet " cured " her lyme. I am going to start that, it's just a good basic diet, 5yrs ago when I started abx, my diet went to sh--! I wrote to her individually and asked what her protocol was. I noticed other people on the list also open to her recommendations. I haven't heard from her since. Does anyone know where she went? -Andrine

Just 'checked-in' and let me say.....wow. I have NEVER said to anyone that 'my products are free " and then turn around and charge $300. What a ridiculous accusation!!!! Nobody has to use my services. It was also not stated here that I have done TREMENDOUS work for the lyme community for 6 years for FREE!!! In the past 2 yrs. it has become a business for me, which there is nothing wrong with that. I don't see people complaining about the LLMDs charging in excess of $750 for an office visit!!! (my consultation by the way is $30 and I CALL you, and spend at least 1hr. plus). I am finishing my degree as a Naturopathic Dr. Let's all try to be positive. There is alot available and the idea is to find what works for each individual and then go with it. I was paralyzed from the neck down, had 6 lymie children that were all on special ed. My husband used to have severe tachycardia due to lyme. Today we are all doing great, I am 99% better. I have compassion for others and that is why I do what I do. I did 5+ yrs. of abx and I will assure...they do NOT work permanently. I wish you all peace. Guest guest
I am new to this group and my son (13) was recently diagnosed with Aspergers and anxiety as he had been misdiagnosed with bipolar prior. He has had major adverse reactions to meds in the past and we have had good success with the gf/cf diet and supplements. We are a little lacking in the anxiety area and was wondering if anyone has found a natural supplement to help with anxiety.
Guest guest
My 5-year old with AS is on a number of different supplements and GFCF and has anxiety issues - we notice a difference (not all the way " tamed " but a lessening) when we follow Feingold. I realize, as is the case with so many supplements/meds/therapies, that it won't work for everyone, but figured I'd toss it out here! Our son has HUGE amounts of hyperactivity, which is what Feingold really helps too. But when we have " gone off " the Feingold diet, our son's sensory issues kick in high gear and cause him higher anxiety....so that's how I think it helps him. Have you looked into/heard anything about GABA or L-Theanine? I've just recently came across these as possibilities, but haven't read much on them. Another idea - do you ever look into info on the ourkidssd site or Kirkmans? We get our supps through Our Kids and prescripts through Lee Silsby. The pharmacist might be able to recommend something? He's been very helpful in helping me in the past. I wish I could help more! I look forward to seeing what other replies you receive . > > I am new to this group and my son (13) was recently diagnosed with Aspergers and anxiety as he had been misdiagnosed with bipolar prior.
