FWD: from STeve Tveden

Widespread pesticide contamination of air, food and water once led to

speculation as to whether or not pesticide residues could be detected in

humans [74]. Today, pesticide contamination of mother's milk and chemically

sensitive people has been confirmed. Organochlorine pesticides have been

found in the blood of chemically sensitive populations around the world,

including patient populations in the US, where some of the identified

pesticides, such as DDT, have been banned for 15 years. Levels of pesticides

in humans were worse in China, which had been isolated from world commerce

for almost 40 years between 1949 and 1984. In England, Arabia and Australia,

high levels of pesticides were also found in humans (Table 2).

Only one group of people was relatively free of organochlorine pesticides

and, incidentally, disease free. These were indians who lived at the head

waters of the Amazon. They had a dense jungle cover, fresh spring water from

the Andes and a constant supply of highly nutritious fresh, chemical-less

contaminated food.
