Guest guest
I started homeschooling my daughter because of physical symptoms two years before her Asperger's diagnosis. She was only diagnosed 3 weeks ago, and the doctors have all encouraged me to get her into school for the social aspects, however, I have nothing but horror stories from the parents in the various school districts in our area. Everything from other kids picking on their children to mainstreaming teachers basically ignoring their children and letting the child do whatever he/she wants in order not to have to deal with them. We live near a college that has a good educational psychology department which has a group for kids with ASD that gives them lots of opportunities for socialization, and I am planning to get my daughter involved in that way. We also go to a small church where everyone already accepts her for who she is even before we got the diagnosis. I have decided we will continue to homeschool but be involved in church, ASD support groups, and homeschool coops. I can tailor our schedule to fit her needs, therapy and doctor appointments, etc. I think homeschooling can be a great option if you can do it. 1:2-4 "Consider it pure joy my brothers whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance, and perseverance must finish its works so that you may be whole and complete, not lacking anything."
