Hi,

Last week or so I express some concern about my son and his returning to public

school system. Well, we met with the school social worker, the counselor and

the head of the ASD program at the school. They had me sign a release to get

his eval. done asap.

I was so pleased with their attitude. They asked questions about what he felt

he needed, and what we felt he needed. They had his test results there from the

two eval's he has already had and felt pretty certain he will be put in the

Aspergers classrooms. The ASD teacher was so cool. She asked me what his

subject(s) of focus were, and kinds of issues I felt he had more than others. I

was so amazed, and relieved.

I asked if they had problems with bullying kids. She said our school is made up

of such a diverse community that " I've never seen a more accepting bunch of kids

in my life " . She felt very confident that Caleb would feel very comfortable

there. One of the social workers took him on a tour while I filled out

paperwork, and talked with the other social worker. He came smiling. He had

more eye contact with the folks than I have ever seen in meeting new people.

The social worker will be emailing me the letter she will draft for all his

teachers so that I can make any changes or add to it.

I can't begin to tell you how relieved I am feeling. Caleb too.

I hope this continues. They also have onsite therapists so that if the kids

have any issues they can go right then and there and talk over their problems.

They offer a pass that if they are feeling anxious or whatever that they can

leave the room at anytime and go to their 'go to' person and get any help,

reassurance they need.

I hope this isn't a dream and I am going to wake up!!!!

I'll keep y'all posted as to how things go.
