DRAFT, DRAFT, DRAFT, DRAFT....See Attached or read belowPlease give feedback. DSFSAG Committee Guidelines The Down Syndrome Family Support and Advocacy Group (DSFSAG) strives to have numerous activities and outreach programs in order to meet the needs of the Down syndrome community in which it serves. Active participation from the DSFSAG members is essential in making this happen. Anyone from the general membership is encouraged to bring their ideas to the board for approval. Once approved, the originator of the idea typically acts as the chair or co-chair for the newly formed Committee. They can recruit as many members or community volunteers as they feel are needed to complete the task. The chair and co-chair (if applicable) will arrange any said meetings between them and the volunteers. The Committee should develop an action plan with timeline and include any projected expenses they will need. Since the Committee will be acting on behalf of the DSFSAG, Committees are asked to submit a brief summary of their action plan and expected expenses. It is not the intent of the Board to micromanage Committees, but

rather ensure that nothing is in conflict with the DSFSAG mission and goals. If the Committee needs group funds (example: materials, space rental, etc), they must submit a request in writing detailing how much money they expect to need and how the money will be spent. All requests for money must be approved by the board in advance (see by-laws). Receipts are required. Reimbursement can not be made without a receipt. The DSFSAG Board is available for ongoing guidance to Committees as needed or requested. From the DSFSAG By-Laws: ARTICLE IV Committees Section 4.1 The Board may create committees or an advisory board as needed. Standing committees include, but are not limited to, Buddy Walk, Calendar, Welcome, and Support Group committees. The Board President appoints all chairs. The Board of Directors will have direct oversight of committees. Committees must get approval from the Board before committing to spend any of DSFSAG monies. Committees must submit to the Board a written, email or oral summary report of all activities.
