Guest guest
IMMEDIATE ACTION MUST BE TAKEN!!! URGENT RESPONSE NEEDED … The President has recently made public his support of mandated mental health parity. Legislation is now being drafted and reviewed in both the House and Senate. This would authorize insurance payment for psychiatric services equal to those of medical services despite the fact that no psychiatric " disorder " can be medically/scientifically proven to exist. According to Bruce Wiseman, U.S. President of CCHR®, " Mental Health Parity amounts to a blank check for a Mental Health Industry that cannot police itself, frequently abuses patients and rips off the health care system. Costs of psychiatric care run a staggering 300% more than other health care services, with a greater percentage of this going to brain-damaging psychiatric drugs. " (To view a full report on Mandated Mental Health Parity visit www.psychassault.com/parity_analysis_cover.htm ) Supporters of parity have beefed up their agenda and NAMI (National Alliance of the Mentally Ill) will be holding a major rally in D.C. on the 6th of June with the intention of garnering major Congressional support. It is critical that we come out in force and let our federal representatives know that we oppose this measure. We have to date flooded Congress with emails, faxes and phone calls. We must now stiffen the gradient. Personal visits are the very best way to let those who represent you in Congress know your position. We are asking you to step up to the plate and help us stop this bill in its tracks!!! What is needed is the following (listed in priority order): 1. Visits to Washington D.C. offices to meet your Congressional Representatives or their Aides. 2. Visits to the home offices of your Congressional Representatives (as they will be in their areas the last week of May). 3.Visits to the home offices to meet with your Congressional Representatives’ Aide. This is something that anyone can do. A briefing sheet on the issue will be provided for your reference. What we are looking at here is QUANTITY of communication. (Meetings are quick and can run anywhere from 10 minutes to a half an hour). Time is a key factor here. Please contact Vicki at CCHR INT.
