Guest guest
I've seen them from $150 (on sale) to $300 at Sears. The only real differences were the size of the collection basin, and other features such as automatic shutoff, built-in humidistat, programmable, etc. However, based on what microbiologists say these days, you can't get too dry -- they want you below 30%; which is pretty hard to get to in August (at least in Wisconsin), so why not just get the no-frills one and let it run all the time. They are pretty simple devices -- they pump coolant through coils (like an air conditioner), which condenses the water in the air. The water runs down into a collection basin and you usually empty it yourself. The nicer ones have a hose that you can run to your floor drain(if you have one) or just dump it every so often. The one you referred to might have some kind of a filter built into it, but why bother -- get a decent dehumidifier and then get a separate (quality) filter for the rooms you use most. They are not cheap, but get one now -- by the time summer is in full swing, $300 will be the going rate -- kind of like buying a snow thrower after the first big blizzard of the season :-) JTR Message: 10 Date: Mon, 15 Apr 2002 00:50:37 EDT From: Stinkypouf@... Subject: QUERY: DEHUMIDIFIERS / MOLD Hello all, a crosspost from : Can anyone recommend a great dehumidifier (quality and SAFE ... no wierd surprises for chemically sensitive)? Or share helpful info/stories about them (or dealing with mold)? I was recommended one by the allergy buyers club for like $280! UGH! If that's what they cost, fine ... but I'd at least like to hear from people about their experience with this kind of appliance. I am trying to deal with what I think is a MOLD problem in my new rental (new to me). I have never had to deal with MOLD before ... I thought winter would be a problem here, but now I am more worried about the SPRING and SUMMER. I have had health changes since moving here, and now that warm weather has come, I am starting to smell strange things. THANK YOU!

I was wondering if you get more sensitive to food or if you just become more aware and wondered if I just thought it was a reaction to the food. ----------------------------------\\ As humans mature (and/or are weaned) they tend to lose (somewhat) the ability to digest milk. This is probably why you had such a problem with milk. (Lactaid tablets would help this problem). If you were to want to start eating milk/dairy you could possibly rebuild your system to enable it to produce the enzymes necessary for digestion by reintroducing the food slowly. (Some people however one they lose it never get the ability back). Another way (probably) not to lose this ability and avoid the icks is to eat goat/sheep cheese (whichever is okay) or farmers cheese.. that way an occasional slip (to icecream etc.) won't be an adventure in agony. And yea I know this isn't BTD advice. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Many of us on the BTD have reported an increasing sensitivity to avoids.
