Guest guest
Hi there, my six year old has been taking it for about six months now. We didn't see a lot of improvement in his anger/outbursts until he was ramped up to 2 mls from .25 where he started. He seems so much happier now and is actually enjoying school! In kindergarten he said he hated school everyday so we were really worried how he would handle the longer day this year but he has really been doing great. He has an increased appetite but is so energetic that he hasn't shown a big weight gain from it- he was looking quite thin before starting it because of the small variety of things he will eat. In his case it has improved his quality of life- is not going to be the same for all but just wanted to let you know our experience. From what I understand it is categorized as an antipsychotic rather than a stimulant like Ritalin or antidepressant like Prozac. Her goal was to reduce violent outbursts and rigid behavior (transitioning) not completely but manageable now. He was really hurting me physically by this point when I would try to put him on time out or get him to do anything he didn't want to do. Best of luck if you decide to try it. Remember that it takes a while to notice a change and to find the right dosage. Patty , Mom to Blaise, age 6 with ASD
