Guest guest
Hi All:We've all heard about the fabulous benefits of fish oil - it does everything from helping brain and joint function to doing your taxes and washing your car. (Okay maybe not those last two things, but you know what I mean.)Anyway, at 's last appointment in early March, his doctor suggested we add a fish oil supplement to his diet. He said he's worked with quite a few Asperger's and ADD/ADHD kids who had positive improvements in mood stability, anxiety and focus on fish oil. I figured it couldn't hurt to try it, and I found these at our local organic/tree-hugging/all-natural grocery store:http://www.nordicnaturals.com/en/Products/Product_Details/98/?ProdID=1438They are not like the giant supplements that they make for adults. They are small enough for (age 7) to take very easily, not much bigger than his Vyvanse capsules. He's been taking one twice a day for six weeks now, and I have to say that his mood has improved and he seems less anxious, a little more even-keeled. It's like he's able to cope with the annoyances of life a little better, and more often he's able to say "Okay, whatever, I'm cool" instead of flying off the handle when he's in a stressful situation. Since we have had no other medication or diet changes, and I haven't suddenly become a better parent, I'm willing to attribute some of the improvement to the fish oil supplements. Now, please understand that I am NOT trying to do a product promotion here or suggest that fish oil is a cure for anything. I just wanted to share this recent experience since adding the supplements was painless and it does seem to help my son. Has anyone else had positive/negative experiences with fish oil supplements?
