Guest guest
I got an email today from the SpEd teacher saying that the meeting coming up on Thursday (which is to go over his three year re-eval AND develop the IEP), will last 1/2 hour! I'm shocked. I have never come across this before. She said that the teachers will have to leave @ 3:15 (meeting is 2:45 after school) and that they cannot do it during the day. Isn't there some IDEA law or guideline that tells what needs to be covered in the meeting(s)? When I was a spec. ed. teacher, the district paid the teachers beyond their contract time out of the special ed budget. Apparently, they can't do that now. That was a different state, though, and under a different version of IDEA. DH says that we'll just have to have more meetings until the IEP is complete. The spec. ed teacher asked for us to do the dual meeting (eval and IEP) so that they could make their deadline for when the IEP is due. That is the school's problem - not mine - that they didn't plan far enough in advance for the deadline. Thanks. ~ Leah
