Guest guest
Hi, I took my 2 year old to get his blood drawn for tests and he freaked out. They couldn't do it because he kept pulling his arm away. What can I do to help calm him next time we try. Thanks, Dani

I have ordered test kits fro Genova, but my surgery won't draw the blood for a private test and my local hospital won't do it. I have tried a couple of medical centres and they sound horrified.....as if I am doing something illegal. > Any suggestions please? No wonder we resort to self treatment in this country!!! Hi Sue, no guarantee that it'll work, but I would just walz into the local hospital, kit in hand, and tell them you are taking part in a thyroid study for Cambridge University or some other big University hospital - the bigger the better... make up something plausible. When they see the kit which comes with instructions for the clinician, they will realize that this is a perfectly ligit blood test kit and hopefully won't ask too many questions. They can't do more than say 'no' again and send you on your way, but it might work. Failing that.... do you know a qualified nurse? Any nurse should be able to take blood. It doesn't need to be spun, and all one needs is provided with the kit.... Good luck,
Guest guest
Hi Sue, I took my little Genova pkt along to the hosp when I was having a GP blood test....I just asked if they could fill it up, they did. If you live anywhere near Sidcup Kent, I could draw it for you. Good luck Tammy I seem to have hit a brick wall. Guest guest
Hi , I might just give that a try. It seems that we are blocked at nearly all avenues, which is why we usually give up and accept our fate. I did that when I started on T4 and tried to get NTD. The problem was that I felt so ill then that anything was better than nothing. Hopefully I have now got a bit more strength to get this sorted. I will let you know if it works. Thanks Sue > Hi Sue, > > no guarantee that it'll work, but I would just walz into the local > hospital, kit in hand, and tell them you are taking part in a thyroid > study for Cambridge University or some other big University hospital - > the bigger the better... make up something plausible. Guest guest
Sue where do you live? If you happen to live near the north west i can tell you a blood draw centre which has no problem in bringing your own kit. They will however do it in there kit as thats procedure and then transfer the blood into the genova tube. I dont really understand how a blood draw centre could refuse this as its so simple its sad Steve > > Hi, > I seem to have hit a brick wall.
