The administration began testing the high school after a teacher expressed concerns about the quality of air in the classroom. The district hired a firm to conduct tests at 15 sites inside the building and learned that tests at two areas came back with unacceptable air quality levels, the administration said in a statement. Those sites are the auditorium and a classroom in the building's 500 hall. The administration said it believes it knows the reasons behind the higher than normal mold levels, however. " The air quality testing company believed that a window, which was left open during the test, caused the above range reading, " the statement read. " They also feel that water damage in the auditorium resulted in the aspergillus reading. " These sites will be re-tested to determine the cause of the readings. The results are expected back the week of March 24, the administration said. School board member Sharon Lucas said the board was told about the findings. She said she hasn't seen the report. " It's good news because there's no major problems, " she said. The administration said the air quality levels do not put students or teachers at any heath risk. " People with extreme mold sensitivity might experience some mild discomfort, " the report said, " but the majority of our students and faculty will not be bothered by these levels, nor will they be put at any danger or risk by being in these areas.
