Guest guest
I appereciate the comments and suggestions from my last question regarding if my child's symptoms looked like Aspergers. I am more convinced than ever that he fits the profile. He was adopted at 17 mos from a russian orphanage so I sure that plays into it. Regardless of what it is he needs some help so I am trying to find some REAL help now. We have tried many things without any real help or understanding. I am trying to get us referred to a developmental ped as I understand that may be my best chance of some help. Anyway I was just wondering if anyone had experienced the kind of echoing he is doing with his speech. It is hard to describe but he will speak outloud and then you will hear him whisper to himself the exact thing he just said, like an echo but to himself like he is replaying what he said to process it or see if it sounded right? I just wonder if anyone had heard of this and if it has a name. If you listen closely he is doing this all the time, constantly, not just on occasion. Thanks, Kirsten
Guest guest
Hi Kirsten, welcome to our group! The name for what your ds is doing is called, "palilalia" and can be associated with autism/AS as well. I agree, find a good developmental doc and get an evaluation done.
