Guest guest
Hi. My son is a survivor of ALL; different than AML. He went through more than 3.5 years of treatment and has been off treatment for a little over a year. Praying that all goes well for . Beth [ ] Re: Hello, new here! Hi Carey,My name is Lynnette and I have a 2 year old daughter named whowas born with DS and TMD. Her TMD cleared up on it's own w/otreatments at 6 months of age. Around her first birthday(5/21/07) shegot a cold and I noticed petechiae on her face. Her platelets haddropped to 20. She had her first BM biopsy then and another one inJune. The results for both were inconclusive and her plateletsimproved to 80 so we stared the wait and watch game by having bloodcounts every 1-2 weeks. In Sept. her platelets dropped again and werepeated the BM biopsy. This one showed myelodysplastic syndrome, butnot quite AML. We continued our wait and watch. In Nov had acold and her bruising and petechiae were worse than normal. We wentinto get her counts and the platelets were 21. We repeated the BMbiopsy on Fri and it has come back with the dx AML. She got herHickman central line on 12/5/07 and start her first of six rounds ofchemo on 12/6. We are also on a study to decrease the side effects andtoxicity of chemo. has done very well and will start her 6thand final round of chemo on 5/23/08. She has had only a few pukey daysand didn't loose her hair until after the 5th round. I read your blogspot and it mirrored my own caring bridge site. We also have spent 100days in the hospital since 's dx. Please visitwww.caringbridge.org/visit/rachaelseeley. Reading your post brought asmile to my face. It was so nice to hear a similar story.
