Guest guest
Glad to hear it and thanks for sharing! Cyndi N [ ] Rapid Eye Blinking I posted here recently that my daughter had begun rapid eye blinking. This had followed and replaced a few months of finger sniffing. We had recently had a flu like /strep tested positive illness that turned into pneumonia for many of our friends and neighbours. My husbands turned to pneumonia and my daughter and I didnt seem far behind. I dreaded starting antibiotics with her but I did it bcs her lungs were damaged during heart surgery and I just couldnt risk it going to pnemonia on her. I was hoping to see an improvement with the blinking when we started the antibiotics. The blinking was unchanged. I started to have questions of tourettes or PANDAS going through my head and still do however...... I was looking around and a few older posts lead me in the direction of high ammonia. One father mentioned in his post that high ammonia can effect the eyes. " Bacterial infections can also elevate ammonia levels in the body. High levels of ammonia or nitrogen in the body can deplete the supply of alpha-keto, allowing ammonia to reach toxic levels. The consequences of excess ammonia (hyperammonemia) may include headaches (migraine), fatigue, irritability, nausea, and diarrhea " -yes she had all of this and then some. My daughter is a high protein eater (can create excess ammonia) and we do use TriEnza from Houstons. We did not have her ammonia levels tested but I thought I would give Alpha-Ketoglutaric Acid a try. That day we saw a major decrease in the blinking and today is the third day taking it and its almost gone. I don't think it is a coincidence and that blinking had run its course. There seems to be a connection. I just thought I would put this out there for anyone experiencing the same. Something to consider bcs it seems to be working here. My girl is a avid reader and was beginning to miss her best friends, books. The blinking was just too much so we are very happy it has moved on for now. Now the Yeast Beast has reared its ugly head bcs of the anitbiotics so its time to start gobbling the probiotics. Round and round we go. One small battle still fighting the war....and winning damit! Guest guest
My son has been blinking a lot today and kept brushing his hand down his eyes. The blinks are rapid blinks (as opposed to pressing eyes close strongly). He is on day 19 of his Diflucan (50mg per day) course. The only suppls he is on are Vitamin C (250mg per day), Vit B6 (50mg per day), zinc (15mg per day), magnesium citrate 100-150mg per day), super pro-bio gold probiotic (2 capsules). He has had a history of mildly elevated oxalate levels. He is not constipated, but today he has had 2 bms (both more mushy than I would like). He has had a good day, compliant and attentive at ABA; no overly stimmy behaviour. The rapid blinking started since morning, and intensified during the course of the day. Just now after dinner, I saw him watching DVD with constant rapid blinks, and also infrequent brushing his hand down his eyes. Anyone has any idea what is causing the rapid constant eye blinking? Is it die-off or something that I should worry or do something about? Many thanks for your help.
