Age Of Autism (AoA0 Article

Shauna Layton on Autism One Radio

Managing Editor's note: Shauna's first show is scheduled for January

15, 2009 from 2:00- 2:30 PM, ET. Read about it below.

For those of you who do not know me. My name is Shauna Layton and I

am the founder of Together In Autism can be found @

www.togetherinautism.org. T.I.A's site started as a small mid-western

website at the time of my child's ASD diagnosis in 07. During the

diagnosis stage I found myself in a region with no support or

information systems within hours. I also found myself dealing with

not only a diagnosis, but my new job title as CEO " Investigator " for

my child. There was no one else to do it, we have all heard this

story a million times. There still are not enough resources available

in ALL regions. Nor do we have many sources telling us that autism is

treatable and recovery is possible.

During my investigating, I decided right then and there that I did

not want one person to have to go through this experience. Why should

we have to search for all the answers when our world has just been

turned up-side-down. When one goes through that, it robs you of your

stages that one goes through when a rug is pulled out from under you.

I decided, why not document all my finding for my own child, and let

others benefit along the way. I wanted all the resources and

information to be in one location with ease. Well, here we are

nearing 2009 and I find my site providing support and information to

thousands of people across the globe. Over the last year demand has

grown so quickly and I am so thankful to be helping others with their

autism needs. It will never be enough. My site as well as my purpose

in life is to provide information and support to the autism

community. My main focus and goal in all that I do, is to have your

voices be heard.

Through my site, I have been compiling a list of Autism Journey

stories, which include: injury, recovery, stories of loss and stories

of hope, nothing is off topic. We have been receiving such an

overwhelming response. These stories will be posted to our site very

soon on our page titled " Your Story. " We are currently and always

will be accepting/welcoming all of the public's stories, please

submit yours today (pictures are also welcome).

I have now signed on with Autism One Radio to provide you a new

arena, a louder arena. My show " We Are Together In Autism " is based

on the same premises as my website. My focus will be on speeding the

process from diagnosis to being informed, staying informed, raising

awareness, connecting families, allowing them to share experiences,

and helping those with autism thrive. All topics are all on the

table: Vaccine & Environmental Toxins, Injuries, Biomedical

Treatments, Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Supplements, Therapies,

Schooling/Homeschooling, Marriage, Greening Our Health, Latest News,

Recovery, and much more. Topics will vary while giving autism

parents, physicians, and advocates a voice. With this show, I am

providing, YOU, the public, a platform for your voices to be heard

and your stories to be told. All topics are on the table. Want to

share hope? Want to share success? Want to uplift? Just need to vent?

THIS IS YOUR SHOW. I currently am and always will be collecting

autism journey stories, topic ideas and interview ideas, again all

topics are welcome. Send me your ideas today. I will be sharing all

of them on air either via interview or by reading your submission on

air. " WE ARE TOGETHER IN AUTISM. " We look forward to your responses

and ideas. Come one, come all.

To have your story & pic's applied to our international website,

send your submissions to togetherinautism@... (Subject: Your

Story).

To have your story read on air or a possible interview,

Radio).

As Age of Autism is known for saying, " Fasten your seatbelts it is

going to be a bumpy ride. " I am looking forward to seeing where the

road will take us, with all of you steering the wheel. It's time to

be heard. To read Shauna's Bio and her intentions for her program,

please visit this Autism One Radio link: Autism One Radio.

First show is scheduled for January 15, 2009 from 2:00- 2:30 PM, ET.

This show's topic will be an Introduction. My second show will be an

interview with a Mother Warrior " Deanna " who lost her son to the Hep

B vaccine. " We Are Together In Autism " will air every two weeks.

Bio: Shauna Layton is the Founder of Together In Autism (T.I.A)

Together in Autism and is currently writing a book of her unexpected

yet humbling autism journey. She was recently announced as a Age of

Autism Awards 2008 People of the Year Honoree. She has marched in

Washington, DC " Green Our Vaccines Rally " and been interviewed by

various national resources. She is a wife, mother, activist, and

advocate who is a full-time caregiver working from home. Upon her

oldest child's ASD diagnosis in 2007, she found herself in a region

of the Midwest (Indiana) with no available resources within hours.

Shauna learned quickly that upon a diagnosis of autism, you are

thrown into a whole new world where you are put into a role of

advocacy that you necessarily didn't ask to sign on for. Through her

research for her own child, she wanted others to benefit from her

findings to make their journey a smooth one. Her mission through her

website, radio program, books, articles, and various projects is to

arm those around the globe with resources, knowledge, faith, hope,

courage, strength, and positivism. Most importantly, she wants to let

people know that autism is treatable and recovery is possible. She

believes once autism is introduced into your life, you can face

anything. Shauna knows this is what she was put on this Earth to do,

it is simply God's plan. Visit Shauna's site @

www.togetherinautism.org and she can be reached @ Together in Autism.
