Guest guest
> > I dont mean to interupt, but you said your son never had any vaccines/antibiotics/meds. Is this NEVER not even once? And he is spectrum? Occaisionally this comes up, a parent stating that there child has never had any of these. I find this very interesting!! Can you tell me if your family drinks tap water, around pesticides ever, do you eat organic or store processed, in public schools/daycare? I sure hope you dont mind me asking, but this is out of the norm of what some of us consider to be the culprit of our childrens issues! Just trying to understand all this!! Jennie<>< Jennie, no I don't mind you asking. I wonder about this myself. Before I had kids I worked as an ABA consultant and we made those choices with our kids because I am convinced that vaccines (and other sources of toxicity) do play a role in autism. I think that our family's experience actually supports the toxicity theory. I'll give more details below, but in a nutshell, my son Avery is genetically predisposed, has serious gut damage (probably from Motrin, an atypical source of damage) and has heavy metal toxicity (from arsenic, again an atypical source). Depending on when the arsenic exposure happened, it may also be a contributing factor in his gut damage. While I consider him to be on the spectrum, his ASD is extremely mild and he is mostly recovered without much more than diet and some basic biomedical stuff- we didn't put him in a special preschool or do a home program. He does get speech and OT, and I do work with him at home a lot, my point is that he hasn't needed the intensity of intervention that autistic kids usually do. He is very social and friendly (he wasn't always though) and not bound by routines or rituals. His doctors have told me that they think he would've been completely autistic if he had been vaccinated, which I also believe. He doesn't actually have a diagnosis, but he fits hyperlexia extremely well. Even though Avery's behavioral profile is very mild for the spectrum, his biomedical profile is very " spectrumish " IMO. And now for more details- yes, neither of my kids has had any vaccines at all, including no shots while I was pregnant. Avery had no antibiotics or anything (besides the Motrin), except for one instance after he began to recover from his regression when he got medicated eardrops with thimerosal, antibiotics, and steroids (I'm still kicking myself about that). He had a severe reaction to these (our doctor said it was seizure-like) which we only gave one time. He was also exclusively breastfed until about 6 months old and born at home, so I know there was no meds or vaccines given then. He also didn't get an ultrasound in utero. I only have one dental filling. We drink filtered water and eat as organic as we can with very few processed foods. But, he is definitely a genetically predisposed kid- there is celiac, MS, asthma, allergies, chemical sensitivities, diabetes, and lots of gut issues and other autoimmune issues on both sides of his family. I am convinced that my uncle has Asperger's. Dh and I are both dyslexic and ADD. I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome and may have fibromyalgia. Both of my kids are clearly enzyme-deficient (older ds is extremely phenol sensitive and looks pretty ADHD and dyslexic too). Another piece of this is that we live in Oregon, which has a higher than average rate of ASD (at least it did last time I looked), which many people think is because it rains so much that lots more pollutants like airborne mercury get washed down on us. Both of my kids did have higher levels of mercury than I was expecting without the vaccines, so maybe that's how they got it. Also, Avery ate dirt as a toddler (about the time he was regressing I think), and maybe it was contaminated? Maybe that's where the arsenic came from? I think I was going to say more but gotta go, the kid have the flu...Jennie, if you have more questions I'm happy to answer them. I am obsessed with getting the bottom of the mystery of this epidemic and it sounds like you are too. -Sierra
