Guest guest
Hi, My girl is 12 and attending middle school. She has Aspergers and the other children are calling her Lesbian because she is not interested on boys yet. I told her that she does not have to have sex at 12 because other people call her lesbian. I told her that I wish to be called a lesbian than to have a reputation of having sex with everybody. I have been talking to the school back and forth about this issue. She is telling me she is feeling peer pressure... .. ( ) Re: Zoloft Advice? For self injurious behavior in autism, rispedal is also used.It does cause some weight gain, it has been tested inkids with autism. It works fairly quickly. A week or less. You may want to try this is his arms get infected or he gets too extreme. Long term though the solutions will be with school changes, something for anxiety like zoloft, prozac. Pam > > >> > > Hi!> > > I am hoping someone here can help me with this... I have found all of the wonderful people on this site have so much useful advice and experience, and are so willing to share to help others who are in the same boat. I have a 12 year old with AS, and he has been on Zoloft 25 mg now for about 8 weeks, along with Concerta for his ADHD, which he has been on for a few years. My question for anyone out there is, has anyone had any bad experience with Zoloft and had to slowly wean their child off of it, and what kind of side effects were there, if any? I have seen my son change drastically since he started this, and I tried to wait it out to see if symptoms would subside, but he has gotten very agitated, and he doesn't smile or laugh much and is keeping to himself and staying in his room a lot. He can't seem to tolerate things that he ususally did, and people are irritating him frequently. He also complains of stomach aches and headaches, and says he just doesn't feel good. I want my son back, but I have also read some very scary stuff as far as side effects when they come off of these meds, though he is on a very low dose. I am also going to call his psychiatrist about this, but he does not seem to have any understanding of AS, or how these meds can affect kids with AS so differently than typical kids. So I am reaching out to the experts...the parents of kids with ASD who have been through this and totally get it, and I thank you in advance for any advice you may have!> > > > > >> >>
Guest guest
Call an IEP meeting right away. Issues like this can only effectively be dealt with and documented during IEP meetings. Make sure you write your request for an iep meeting and say that the meeting is to address the bullying and sexual slurs that your daughter is enduring. If you only " talk " to the school and it's all verbal and not in the context of an IEP meeting, the school is not accountable and can deny the discussions took place. Stop having conversations outside of the IEP process. Send the emergency request today. I can tell you that if this is not addressed quickly it will only escalate and continue to get worse and your daughter will be alienated if she isn't already. Not trying to scare you, just move you into action! On Wed, Apr 13, 2011 at 1:09 PM, <tfitzge134@...> wrote: Hi, My girl is 12 and attending middle school. Guest guest
You need to get serious about expecting the principal to deal with this. Do you want the prinicpal to tell these kids not to talk to your daughter at all or risk suspension, do you want your daughter moved to another class. It is better to ask for what you think would be the most effective. Put it in writing to the principal what happened that you consider it bullying. Does she have an IEP? If she does ask the casemanager for help finding some kids that would treat her kindly to eat lunch with etc. I would take this serious.
