Guest guest
I am wanting to make my own gluten-free crackers out of ground seeds and do some other food projects that involve a dehydrator. I know that most raw foodists recommend Excalibur brand dehydrators, but I understand they are made of polycarbonate with teflex trays and I'm a bit nervous about making food and possibly adding toxins into it, since 1) they will be wet when they go in the dehydrator and 2) there will be heat inside the dehydrator I was considering looking at a stainless steel variety as an alternative but they seem to be a lot more expensive. I am wondering if anyone on this list has some suggestions. One thing that has been suggested is to line the teflex trays with parchment paper in a polycarbonate dehydrator, but I don't know if that really does the job to avoid any toxins from the polycarbonate (BPA) that could leach into the food somehow. Does anyone have any experience with this? Katy
