Guest guest
My daughter and I are in Truckee, CA for a few days of skiing. She has not skied much in the past few years but today was great. We have our choice of about fifteen ski areas within an hour's drive, but we chose one of the close ones, Tahoe Donner, which she'd never been to. This is a small family friendly area with only a few lifts and only 700 feet of elevation above the base. There are no expert trails, but 60% of them are intermediate. We arrived late and talked about whether we would do five or 20 runs. Well there were five runs before a light lunch and ten afterwards. She started off a little slow and tentative, but soon we were skiing top to bottom non-stop and talking on the lift on the way up. Nice sunny day with well groomed slopes and Jan got her confidence up. We basically skied every intermediate trail one or more times and will go back for more tomorrow when they have a mid-week internet rate and her ski ticket will be only fifteen dollars. You can't ask for better than this! Thursday we drive back and Friday she will be back at work taking care of people. Rick It is just 15 years since she skied at S.O. Nationals at Steamboat, really a rather small meet, but a very friendly one. She's had a lot of health issues in the between times including a stroke and leukemia, but today that seemed like old history. In addition to our parent/child and coach/athlete relationship, we are ski buddies. We both have our handicaps when it comes to skiing, but we both love it!
