Guest guest
http://www.bostonphoenix.com/boston/news_features/top/features/documents/02229143.htm Something stinks in Boston City Hall besides the air! Read the story at the website. I, and many others, spoke at the hearing in March. Seems that what I expected is 100 Percent true. In Massachsuetts, local and state government are required to publish a RFP (Request For Proposal) for contracts or equipment. It was written to prevent corruption and payoffs. The RFP is required to tell the scope and specifications for the work required. Under State Law, the lowest bidder is required to be selected if they meet all of the requirements in the bid process. I mentioned this issue in my remarks that evening. Seems the three companies mentioned that did the air testing were selected by City Hall and called over the telephone. They were the only three called. No RFP was ever written! I have a Boston City Public Record document that states these exact facts about no RFP and the 3 companies being called by the City for their bids. "Strangely", the three companies "finding" discuss replacing AC filters and cleaning rugs more often. So much for being thorough. This is an insult to the people that are sick from the mold, the teachers and children that are sick from the mold in Boston schools and to the citizens of Boston and throughout the State of Massachusetts. This is what "passes" for "good government" in Massachsuetts. Perhaps time for a Grand Jury investigation into these types of "contracts' being awarded.
