Guest guest
I'm somewhat new here and was hoping those of you that have websites, or caring bridge sites could post them here.  It's a great way to get to know each other, and I really like reading the stories of people going through what we are going through.  Thanks! I just posted, with my last reply, but again, we're at, www.cbranam.blogspot.com Carey http://www.cbranam.blogspot.com/ http://www.marykay.com/cbranam516/default.aspx [ ] Zachary, new to group  Hi, I noticed that my post got folded into another person's topic who is also new to the group. Below is my post. Sorry to repeat. My son Zachary (12 mos) has been diagnosed with RAEB, a precondition of AML leukemia. He is scheduled to start chemo in 2 weeks. They expect him to be in the hospital for at least 6-7 mos., with a few days home between cycles of treatments. I would love to hear from others who have been down this path, and especially hear about how the first days in the hospital went for you. Thanks-- [image Removed] [image Removed] [image Removed] Get the Moviefone Toolbar. Showtimes, theaters, movie news, more! Get the Moviefone Toolbar. Showtimes, theaters, movie news, more! Guest guest
We're two months from the end of treatment for ALL (total of 3 years 2 months of chemo). We spend approx a week a month in the hospital but because we lived 4.5 hrs from the hospital would stay in Vancouver for a total of 3 weeks a month then come home for 1 week. We stayed until his blood counts started to rise and he didn’t need to be transfused anymore. It was pretty smooth sailing except for the 5th cycle which knocked the crap out of him and he had to spend about 2.5 weeks as an inpatient. The first few days were scary while we learned what to expect, seeing the other kids with different kinds of cancer, getting a permanent line put in his chest, seeing how he reacted to Chemo but did really well. He was a trooper. The only time he got sick was when I forgot to give him the anti-nausea meds before he had a lumbar puncture. I think the worst parts of Leukemia were having to have lumbar punctures and bone marrow aspirations. The chemo wasn’t really that bad in the grand scheme of things. I just kept thinking how lucky I was to have been able to have had my son in my life every day as there are some people out there that weren’t so lucky. Feel free to ask any questions.
