Guest guest
I was wondering how long your children spent with someone (I am assuming a psychiatrist or other MD) before they were diagnosed? My son has an appointment with a Pediatric Behavioral Medicine Specialist (she is an MD in the psychiatry department)in a month and they said after she spends about an hour with him she will be able to tell us if he has AS. Does this sound right? Is that enough time for her to make that assessment? She works with many kids with AS I am told. They said she will perform some kind of Aspergers Diagnostic Rating Scale or something... I don't think I am remembering the name correctly. I just wondered if that sounded appropriate, that she would be able to diagnose after one meeting with him? He will also be assessed by our school district in the near future, so we are going through our medical insurance and through the school district. What can we expect from the school district do you think? The psychologist will be calling me in a couple weeks from the district, so I am not sure what to expect... Thanks!
