Guest guest
Hi out there, Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. My 8 year old ASPIE/ADHD daughter has had 3 episodes over the last 6 months with shoplifting. It has happened when she was with me shopping and wandered away (she has always been a wanderer). The first time I made her bring the candies back to the store to the customer service desk and made her apologize. I gave her the standard speech about how stealing was wrong. She promised to never do it again. The second episode was she was actually caught by a store employee before we left the store and the person took me aside and told me what she saw. I again had her return the item, with promises to never do it again. Yesterday she lifted two items and I didn't realize it until she undressed for her bath. I got a lot stronger with her and tried " scared straight " tactics (if anyone rememmbers that documetary). I asked her what she was thinking when she did it and she kept saying " I don't know " . As usual I am trying to get inside her wonderful brain to figure out what is going on, but she's not letting me. Anyone have any comments/suggestions?
