Texas Family Sues Builder Over Toxic Home

On Friday, March 8th, we filed a lawsuit against our builder Weekley Homes over our toxic home which is contaminated with dangerous levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and toxic mold.

Our brand new home came with a leak that caused water to seep between our walls and under our hardwood floors that we found less than two days after we moved in. Our builder, Weekley Homes, failed after numerous complaints to remove or dry any of the wet building materials. Their negligence created the optimal environment for the growth and spreading of toxic mold.

Because of serious declining health, we had to evacuate our home after only 5 weeks of living there. Extensive testing found high levels of toxic mold in walls, in the hard wood floor, and in all 3 bathrooms. Additional testing revealed dangerous levels of toxic petroleum based solvents and other toxic volatile organic compounds in our home. Some of the chemicals found were benzene, benzaldehyde, decane, heptane, formaldehyde, methylbenzene, octane, styrene, and xylene. The house and virtually everything we own is contaminated and ruined with toxic chemicals and/or toxic mold.

My baby and I suffered neurological and brain injury. My baby lost her speech regressing to primitive grunting. Our cat died.
