FloLogic's Plumbing Experts to Address Toxic Mold Prevention

Conference Call Will Present Plumbing Design Strategies That Prevent

Conditions That Breed Toxic Mold

RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2002--FloLogic®, manufacturers and

marketers of a highly sensitive, in-line, automatic shut-off valve that can

prevent water damage, water loss, and mold, announced today it will hold a

broadcast conference call on Tuesday, May 28th at 1 PM Eastern to present

plumbing design strategies that prevent the conditions that breed toxic

mold.

Experts on the conference call will include licensed master plumber

Kemp and FloLogic CEO Chuck DeSmet.

Topics addressed will include:

1. Common plumbing failures that can cause mold

2. Cases in the news of catastrophic plumbing failures with mold resulting

3. Insurance claim estimates for mold from preventable plumbing failures

4. Simple, low-cost plumbing design strategies to prevent mold

Many types of household molds - including mycotoxins like stachybotrys

(a.k.a. " Killer Mold " or " Toxic Mold " ) - can thrive where building materials

that contain cellulose mix with water from leaky or broken pipes and faulty

plumbing fittings. (Building materials that contain cellulose include

ceiling tiles, wood and wood products, wallpaper, insulation materials, and

drywall.) In many cases, toxic mold can be completely prevented by depriving

it of water, and the most common source of water in households is leaky

pipes/water damage or problems with " building envelope " design. In-line,

whole-house water monitors and shut-off devices can detect leaks or

catastrophic failure and entirely prevent one of the two conditions that

allow mold to thrive.

Who: Kemp, licensed master plumber; Chuck DeSmet, CEO of FloLogic.

What: " Leaky pipes and plumbing failures as sources for 'Toxic Mold.' "

FloLogic's flagship product, FloLogic System 2000, is a highly sensitive,

in-line shut-off valve installed in the main water line that detects and

automatically shuts off excess water flow. FloLogic System 2000 works like

" the circuit breaker for your home plumbing system " ®, and monitors all water

flowing into the home with an adjustable timer. The FloLogic System 2000

will turn off the water supply to a house in the event of a ruptured water

line or an unusually long-running plumbing appliance. Any user can easily

program FloLogic System 2000 using a control panel that features an

alphanumeric LCD display similar to electronic thermostats and security

systems. Property damage in the U.S. resulting from home plumbing leaks is

second only to hurricanes as the most costly insurance claim, according to

insurance industry reports. Burst washing machine hoses constitute one of

the most common sources of residential water damage, accounting for more

than $150 million in claims each year in the U.S. Frozen water pipes

contribute an estimated $400-500 million a year.
