Guest guest
Just thought I'd let you all know this is going okay. I think we actually came up with something better than the class. I found out the co-teacher classes in this school are not modified the way they are in some schools. So, they want to put him in all co-teacher classes. They are a mixture of regular and SPED students and have the same curriculum as any other class of that subject. And the co-teachers are all trained in social skills interventions as well as the organizational strategy intervention. They think they will actually be able to work with him more on interventions since he will have these teachers all day long instead of just one class. They can't do the co-teachers in the Pre-AP classes, but he will still have his monitoring teacher to work with in the daily 25-minute advisory period and before/after school, so that should be okay. This will be his third schedule though! And I found out they don't do social skills group in the class anyway. Since the student's social skills goals are all completely individualized and don't match up well enough, the teacher usually works with them individually in the class and works in some homework with other classes. But the same teachers who teach the social skills classes are also co-teachers and monitoring teachers, so they all have the same training more or less and can do the same interventions. And they pointed out that it will be helpful for him to be doing interventions with multiple teachers and so be getting more practice with different people and probably more different places.
