C. , communications director for the Beaufort County School District, confirmed on Monday that 55 faculty members filed a complaint alleging poor indoor air quality. He said the district is aware of their concerns and has taken action to improve air quality. According to , AAA Environmental of Spartanburg took samples from throughout the building " in late fall or early winter. " Their assessment found high humidity levels in some parts of the school, so district staff placed dehumidifiers in affected areas, he said. " Certainly we value our teachers and have already taken steps to address their concern about the air quality at Battery Creek High School, " said. He added that the mold spores were more likely to affect teachers than students. Students change classes but faculty must remain in the same room most of the day, he said. said the district's proposed budget for 2002-2003 includes a new heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. The new HVAC system will include a large-scale humidifier and a sealant on ductwork throughout the building. It will cost $2.7 million, he said.
