To pay for the cleaning and reconstruction, Pinto said he would ask council members to approve an emergency expenditure at their next meeting. The mold was found in the city detectives' offices. The officers were moved out of the contaminated offices on Jan. 23. The police station is located on Seguin Street, east of Interstate 35. " I can not say that this is an absolute yet, " he said. " The money for this is coming from the fire department's $250,000 (that was) budgeted for the improvement and upgrade of the fire administration building. " If not approved, the process could take an additional three to four months before work begins. " We've seem to have wasted enough time as it is, " he said. " The chief (Ray ) and I have worked hard on this. " Fixing the walls will include a combination of treatment, removal and replacement, Pinto said. " We will be able to sterilize some of the sections of the wall and will have to remove others, " he said. " Roughly about 80 feet of wall, including both sides will be removed. " Indoor Environmental Consultants, Austin, and Microtech Biological Inc., Jewett, conducted the review, testing and made recommendations. The consultants provided the city with their information last week. City officials will decide which company will do the work if council approves the funding for repairs, Pinto said.
