Guest guest
Hi , I used the book by Dr. Ferber. I will tell you it's not easy to listen to your child scream for a few nights, but in the long run it was well worth it. I believe my twins were about 1 when I did it, but I was so exhausted, I didn't know what else to do. I know there will be many "negative" responses to my response, but I am just telling you that it worked for me., Yes it was heartbreaking for a few nights, but really that is all it was, was a few nights. Being an absolutely exhausted Mommy because your child has you up at all hours is not fun and makes you a crabby Mommy. Much better to have a good nights sleep and be able to enjoy your kids more. Now, we are at the end of our rope as his sleep habits have gotten worse. Every aspect of his sleep is bad. 1. He needs us to be with him as he falls asleep2. He wakes in the middle of the night, and we go into the bed with him3. He gets up way too early. To complicate matters he is in a toddler bed so he has mobility! This was done because we have an infant and I didnt want to buy another crib. Can anyone give me some advice on how to address these 3 critical sleep issues with a toddler bed (able to get out of bed)?Any help would be so very appreciated! Guest guest
We used the Ferber method too when my son was 7 months old. I hated to do it, but we had tried the no-cry method and everything else under the sun - it was at the point where I thought I might literally go insane if I did not get a good night's sleep. Once I started sleeping again, I realized just how crazy sleep deprivation had really made me before the sleep training. I hate to say it, but I think it will be harder with a toddler who can get out of the bed. I believe the book has a special section dealing with that. My best advice is to let your husband deal with the visits to check in every few minutes while you wear some earplugs. It is hard to hear, but in our case the process worked within 3 nights. Best of luck to you!
