Guest guest
http://www.capecodonline.com/cctimes/islandofficial24.htm Here is a followup news story on the indicted building inspector. I think that this is the same inspector that was involved with our Head State Building Inspector, Tom , in a case of many modular homes not being inspected. Seems the state let the company inspect themselves. This guy is small time in comparison to some others in Massachusetts. One community knowingly hired a guy to be their inspector when they knew he was not certified by the state as required. Tom crew does the certification. He worked for 4 years for this town. They have to reinspect everything he did. One problem was mold in schools and kids getting sick. Of course here on wonderful Cape Cod, we have our own group of "special" town inspectors. In Barnstable, there are public record documents that detail the building commissioner taking payoffs as well knowingly allowing illegal and unsafe construction. I've heard of reports of this going on, with the Town's knowledge, for 25 years. You know how it works - cars bought under cost, free car loaners, free meals and so on. All of this has been told to the local police and district attorney, Massachusetts Attorney general, US Attorney and Boston FBI. By the way, it is the same FBI office that has been in the news about tipping off murders. I've been told that an FBI affidavit stated the building commissioner said he got free vacations from the mastermind of a 50 million dollar credit union scam. The affidavit was destroyed when I requested it under the Freedom of Information. Where is the outrage that banks are being robbed of hundreds of millions of dollars? Where is the outrage that homeowners are being defrauded on a daily basis? Where is the outrage that families are getting sick from mold caused by this illegal construction? In Massachusetts we have the Big Dig construction program. It is a few billion dollars over budget with wide reports of corruption. Nobody has been arrested or fired! There is no outrage because much of the media in Massachusetts, and nationwide, won't cover these stories so the public doesn't know. With Freedom of the Press comes responsibility to inform the public about what their government is or is not doing. Ken Moulton
