Intro and Question

Hi Sheri,

Thank you for your reply. I am well researched in the dangers and reality of

prevention using vaccinations. What I am looking at right now is I want

people's experiences with children and chicken pox at ages 5-7.

We homeschool, so there's no need nor battle related to vaccinations for school,

and my pediatrician is about 90% supportive of our choices (which is HUGE from

your typical MD).

I want my son to actually contract chicken pox, as most everyone I knew did as a

young child. I remember some of my friends getting it as they got older and it

was more miserable for them of course...

I dont know if I really have a " question " per se, just more looking for what

others have done and what those results so far have been.

Thank you!

Well, I was about 7 or 8 when I got CP.....I loved it....my mom took good care

of me and I had no complications and I got to miss school for a week. I would

love for ds to get CP naturally but I don't know if that's possible much

anymore. Of course I don't know if this helps you in any way, but I'm the only

experience I've had with CP in a child in that age range lol.

I know a few babies that got it under a year, they were bf and were

fine so that made me feel better as I have most concerns about

younger ones and things, or did as a new mum with an unvaxed baby

and everyone telling me to be very worried. They even wanted her to

have a tb shot which is unusual here generally, implying it would

strike her down otherwise and I was being very risky.

Back to cp... My 2 neices have had it I found out recently...they

are 4 and 2, it must have been such a non event they didn't mention

it (strange over here how cp isn't always a biggie with vaxing

parents who are worried about the other things, although it is

changing), and I had it at 11, figured I wasn't going to get

it...came up red overnight, stayed off school again about a week,

calamine lotion was the thing then (80s)...I've heard being gentle

with the skin, any kind of rash or allergy cream might help ...lots

of herbal ones about, oats in bathwater...it passes by itself, you

just live with the itching a while. I'd like my daughter to get it

around now onwards (she's 4) but there isn't that much off it I've

run into for some reason...maybe as you mostly seem to get it once

and it doesn't last long. One of the kids at my husbands work got

it, he was about 4 and again, nothing to mention really. People say

oh they had cp and that's it, nothing to say. People tend to tell

you after they have it, very useful lol. I don't think of it as

anything dangerous at all for the kids, it's like a bad dose of a

cold equivalent to me scale wise with some spots, nothing to worry

about. No doubt in years to come the next generation here will be

talking about all the dangers of cp! and how we're all in dire life

threat from unvaxing. OTOH you might find he has it without even

trying so it's out of your hands!

> Is there anyone out there who does selectively vaccinate (I know

many if not most do not do that) who would connect with me on the

subject of chicken pox?

My son was vaxed up to age 1 yo and my daughter has not been vaxed

at all. I exposed both of my children to chickenpox and they both

got it. My son was 3.5 yo and my daughter was 11 mo. My daughter

was still breastfeeding and faired very well. She had a good

reaction (plenty of pox) and really didn't get very sick at all. My

son (who, like I said has been vaccinated, but not for chickenpox or

with MMR) was much worse off. He got poison ivy during the

incubation period (thanks to my husband) and the pox really hit

those areas hard, with major inflamation and pain. He also had 4

nights of high fever which helped bring out the pox each morning.

Respiratory wise, besides the fever, he did very well. We did not

see the doctor at all and just used homeopathy a couple of times

(the main time brought him back immediately from the

hallucinations). I felt very prepared before exposing them so that

I would know what to expect and when and then what I could do to

help, if needed.

As far as the vaccine for chickenpox goes, this wasn't going to be

an option for us. It was either expose or don't expose. I couldn't

be sure that what they would be exposed to was the wild chickenpox

or not, but I decided to go ahead with it anyway. My husband and I

also go a boost to our immune system to help keep us from getting

shingles, so this has hopefully been an added benefit.

I had the rhogam shot at 28 weeks without knowing the adverse effects that it

can have on my child. Do all rhogam shots contain mercury? Is there any way of

testing my son for levels of mercury/damage? I thought you had to have the

rhogam shot to protect the baby during pregnancy??

Thanks,

There are medications like zantac that can help with stomach aches and

upset stomach. If the pains are so bad that he can't go to school, I

would contact the doctor to find out what additional medications he

can take to help with that, especially if the NSAIDs are working. You

expect some side effects, but this sounds extreme. These types of

medications can cause ulcers, so you should stay on top of it and make

sure he gets something to reduce the stomach pain.

Hope he's feeling better soon.

Hi and welcome. Many of our kids on NSAIDs have tummy troubles. I would

ask your doctor if can recommend a reflux type medication for him (something

like prilosec or zantac, not sure what is available in the UK). This is very

common, but if they continue to the point where he can't go to school there

could be something else going on and I would watch him closely. Otherwise

sounds like you are giving it correctly with food and/or milk and besides that I

don't know what to tell you.

welcome, to this wonderful place of support for us moms.

My daughter, Isabelle, can tolerate Ibuprofen well (w/ food), but

Naproxen made her throw up constantly which is a big sign that it's

just not the right medication for her. She was taken off that and

put back on Ibuprofen again along w/ a steroid injection into the

joint (Pauci at that point). That was about a year ago and now she

is on Methotrexate alone which has helped tremendously and she is

now " in a medicated remission " .

I have heard from others that Zantac along w/ their NSAID is often

helpful, but it's often just a " trial and error " until your Rheumy

prescribes the right medication. There are LOTS of other choices

available, so call your son's MD and ask to try something else. I

waited too long (4 mos.) because I didn't know that there were other

good options that could be better for Isabelle. All we can do is

learn as we go....

April,

I took a food-based supplement during my 3rd trimester that contained Kale

and Brussel Sprouts, to help with my own clotting factor, as well as the

baby's. I lost almost no blood during child birth (less than 1/2 cup

total), and my son did not receive anything at all at birth. No eye goops,

no Vitamin K, nothing. Upon examination of my placenta, my midwife stated

" Boy, I can tell you were taking your leafy green supplement! " I still take

the supp today, although not double the dose that I was taking when

pregnant. I eat lots of leafy greens, too (always have). After about a

week the baby is able to produce their own clotting factor though, so I'm

not sure how necessary it is to ingest the supp solely for the benefit of

the baby. Leafy greens are never a bad idea though!

You can only offer education. You cannot make someone change their thinking,

change their actions, only THEY can do that. It may not be in their heart to

change their course, they simply may not want to change. This is not up to you.

Be at peace with it, you will likely meet many people like that in your

parenting. :)

Welcome, ! I would tell your friend to get the Neil Z. 's book "Vaccines: Are They Really Safe and Effective?" It's a little old but short and easy to read--charts, etc. It's what woke me up. Past that, I would not waste too much time sending things to people who have already made up their minds. They need to do their own research. What happens is they start to feel pressured and a wall goes up between you, not just about vaccines but about other parenting issues. Then the friendship is in jeopardy. You really don't want to start jumping through hoops and having your efforts rejected. It's too frustrating.

If you have planted the seed, then if they are truly interested there is much info only a click away.

Hello, my name is Chuck and I am new to this group. I do not know much about

, so please bear with me.

First off, we have a 13 yr old daughter who has undiagnosed Asperger's.

We have always suspected something different with her but could not pin point it

until we met some friends who's son has AS. We then did a ton of research on the

subject and came to a definite conclusion that Asperger's Syndrome is the

answer.

We live in a very rural area, and have no way to see the nearest specialist

which is over 4hrs away.

How do we talk to our daughter about this? I am afraid that telling her that she

has Asperger's will stress her out and cause a melt down.

I would appreciate any comments on this.

Thank you.

Chuck

Does she feel different...does she acknowledge a difference? My son did...and it helped him a lot when I explained it...He was in 6th grade. Basically I explained that a lot of people have their brains wired one way to the right ..but some people are wired to the left. All it means is that he has a different way of looking at things or thinking about things. And, that it is important to the world...we need people with a different way of thinking...think of Mozart and Beethoveen, Jefferson...and so many other. The world would be boring w/out difference and because of such people look at how far the world has come! I celebrate Aspergers and difference. Don't look at the negatives...look at the positives

The way I see it...our children are glasses of water overflowing...they are not half full or half empty...they are overflowing...with energy, love, knowledge, senses and so much more.

So celebrate this new knowledge because now ...you can read up and understand how to help your child. Now you will understand better why your child acts or reacts a certain way. Now you can assist you child so that they can evolve into a participating citizen...even if it means doing volunteer work or whatever they are capable of ....but with us behind our children...our children will go far!

Hi

It depends where I believe. I know USA is hot as my brother moved from the UK to the States. I believe for him he had to prove which vaxs he had had. I have been offered work there but will not go because of this. Some vaxs are ok to say no to.

As for an exempt forms I have no idea sorry

Hello, I am a married mom to two under two (son 16months, daughter 4 months) and decided not to vax while I was pregnant with my son. After doing some research I knew for sure I would at least delay but then after some more research I decided to not vax all together. The ingredients alone, such as aborted fetal cells and formaldehyde, was enough to do it for me. Not to mention, my 23 year old cousin was vaccine injured at 18 months. She had a seizure after receiving a vax and has never been the same again. Now to my question....We are moving overseas this fall. My husband works for the government and he is being stationed overseas. Can the government make me vax my children to move overseas? Would my state religious exemption letter work in this case?Any help would be great! Thanks!

Welcome! I don't have an answer on the overseas move but do want to say how smart you were to research vaccines before having your children. I wish I had done the same. You won't regret it. Glad to have you here!

Hi, welcome to the group. I'm sure you will find it very helpful and a mine of information and support.

Regarding your overseas move - where from and where to? That will make the difference. There are few countries where vaxing is mandatory - obvously the US for school entry, and it is mandatory in both France and Italy, I believe - although double check me on that.

Can you clarify?
