Guest guest
Yep, it send both my kids into a huge stimming episode while on it. Big behavior regression. Later found out my kids had glutamate issues. So, for some kids it is not such a great supplelment, but I hear good things about it for those that can tolerate it. When I took my kids off, the regressions/stimming when away within a day or two. Just monitor it when you try it and make sure that is the ONLY thing you have changed or added to their routine as to know if that is the cause of better or worse behaviors. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of sage sylvia Sent: Wednesday, February 03, 2010 1:24 AM autism treatment Subject: [ ] L-glutamine Has anyone in this group administered L-glutamine to a child? Guest guest
I appreciate your response. The same thing happened to my child. It was so obvious, that there was no attributing this to anything else.  I gave my own daughter 500 mg glutamine 3 times daily for a short period of time. But then I added B2, and almost all of her stimming had stopped within 24 hours of the B2, and her lips were no longer chapped. My brother says that some doctor said that it will make kids initially stim, but if you keep giving it to them, their guts will heal, and their stimming will stop.  I don't know how reliable that information is. Maybe the glutamine causes their neurons to fire so much that they self-destruct, and then the child gets too depressed to stim.  My psychology instructor told me that I can't conduct studies for my research paper. But maybe I should do this on my own time because there seems to be a strong connection between glutamine, glutamate, stimming, and autism.  I started my own group before my instructor said not to do my own research. So far, I'm the only member. It's research_autism  I would like to know how much glutamine you administered to your child and how often. Try sending this information to my new group. Maybe we should be zeroing in on glutamate.  I won't be paying this too much attention while I'm in school, but over the summer, we find discover something.  Sincerely,  Sylvia Sage    From: Chuck & Chase <cachase@...> Subject: RE: [ ] L-glutamine Date: Wednesday, February 3, 2010, 6:17 AM  Yep, it send both my kids into a huge stimming episode while on it.
