Guest guest
Spitting has always been yeast overgrowth for my youngest one(3.5 yrs). Are you chelating? What are you using for controlling yeast? Guest guest
My son has done this off and on for years. When he does it we increase his yeast protocol and it goes away in a couple of days. It's always yeast for him. Guest guest
Parasites. You can do a cleanse or if you have a DAN! ask for Vermox. You can also have your regular doctor prescribe Vermox. But there are many OTC products as well. > > Anyone have any ideas as to why a 5 year old would suddenly start spitting. It started about 3 months ago. It is terrible. Does it all day long. Guest guest
Hi JoAnn Whilst it is worth looking at possible yeast and other physiological reasons I personally would not overlook behavioural reasons. What may have started out as a sensory/physical reason for spitting, your child may have quickly learnt that this gets a big reaction as you have suggested when you said that it drives you crazy and this therefore may reinforce his spitting it may also turn into a stim. Spitting seems to be very difficult to stop as it seems to provoke such a big reaction, sometimes more than other behaviours such as headbanging, etc as it seems more defiant. Along with trying bio-med interventions I would also try to make sure that his spitting would meet with possible loss of reinforcement or rewards and the lack of spitting even for a few minutes(which can gradually be extended) would meet with lots of reinforcement, rewards, praise, warmth and attention. Even then I must admit from personal experience it is still very difficult, but also still quite possible. Guest guest
It's carnitine. Take a look at this thread: /message/271475 It seems to stop my son from playing with his saliva, but I don't know why. -Ann > > I have 2 supplements here, but can't remember which was recommended for 'spitting'..either Choline or Acetyl-L-Carnitine..can someone help out here? > Donna > > ________________________________ > From: " denisemac22@... Guest guest
Hi I know that this is primarily a bio-med group, but I would not rule out a behavioural reason for this, especially if this continues after trying the helpful advice here. Spitting is very hard to stop if it is behavioural because it almost always guarantees a response, as he is still very young it might not seem too bad at the moment, but it might be a different kettle of fish if this is still happening when school starts, teachers really don't like it. Giving no attention to it and giving lots of attention for appropriate behaviour might work if you can put up with this for a while, alternatively unfortunately giving negative punishment meaning restricting or taking away favourite things when this happens and trying to make it clear the reason for this whilst at the same time giving lots of positive attention for good behaviour and absence of unappropriate behaviour might help. If this lingers on then consistency may become very important. Kenny > > My son(3) is suddenly constantly spitting. Guest guest
Hi,My son is having the same problem with spitting-the GSE was helping for a while but now it has come back (though I give him GSE daily) and he also started daytime/nighttime wetting which is new-would L-Carnitine help for wetting too.  Also how much L-Carnitine is recommended and how often? Thanks. Jackie From: brangus100 <brangus100@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Spitting Date: Saturday, February 6, 2010, 5:36 AM  It's carnitine. Guest guest
It sounds like yeast. Maybe alternate yeast treatment. nne > > > > > > I have 2 supplements here, but can't remember which was recommended for 'spitting'.. either Choline or Acetyl-L-Carnitine. .can someone help out here? > > > Donna > > > > > > ____________ _________ _________ __ > > > From: " denisemac22@ ... Guest guest
How much GSE? You may need to increase it or add more probiotics. Spit play is often yeast. > > > > > > I have 2 supplements here, but can't remember which was recommended for 'spitting'.. either Choline or Acetyl-L-Carnitine. .can someone help out here? > > > Donna > > > > > > ____________ _________ _________ __ > > > From: " denisemac22@ ... Guest guest
Hi Guys, I wondered if any of you have issues with your children spitting, the school called me yesterday to tell me Gregor had spat in another boys face, I told her he had done it before and that it my be something to do with his Aspergers, she said she didn't think there was a connection. On asking Gregor the boy in question had been pointing at him and laughing (without making any noise) of course the teacher didn't see any of this, but then Gregor spat at him and he told the teacher. I just wondered if any of you have had similar experiences, and how to stop the spitting, Gregor just kept saying I couldn't stop my self. Cheers Lorraine
