Guest guest
Hi Ed <snip> I can no longer run or do things that I used to enjoy You really have to modify your activities with this disease, but I have found it is sooo important to stay active any way you can. I can't run either (not that I ever enjoyed it anyway!) but cycle avidly (completed a 100 mile ride this year), do yoga, and work on the new fixer-upper we just bought. Staying active has helped me tremenously - you just have to take a little more care with yourself - stretch, rest, and try not to get stressed out when a joint is bothering you - just do what you can to take care of them. My PA was at it's worst when I had a stressful job last year, and was taking computer classes at night. I was basically sitting in front of a computer for about 12 hours on some days! Not good... Currently, the only prescription I take Vioxx which I've found very helpful, and I also try and eat healthy. The one dietary recommendation I'd make is eating more omega-3 oil sources like salmon, flax seeds, sardines, etc. Omega-3s have natural antiinflammatory properties, and I think they've really helped with my psoriasis. I only have a little on my scalp - no nail problems, and none on my body. Anyway, good luck. There are lots of people out there who are living active and full lives with this disease.
