Guest guest
About the shower Back in 1981 I met a family in Venezuela who had the most unusual shower set up. For their oldest child, they had a contraption that looked like piece of a flat garden hose that they tied to the sink and ran it to the shower. That way the child could hold the hose and control the tame water. The mother had figured out that the oldest was afraid of the shower head (back then not so many shower head choices) and this was the only way bathing would take place. Back then, I was a college student and had never really paid attention to the word 'autism.' Yet, one weekend there was a big conference at my grad school campus in Caracas called " The First International Autism Conference. " Families from all over kept commenting how great it was to find others with the same struggles. As the conference ended, families did not want to leave. The connections seemed so strong! Looking back, pre-internet, it must have been a great experience for the attendees and it seems ironic that such a conference would be so close to a mom who, in retrospect, probably could have benefited from attending it, and helped others with her own discoveries. __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 4496 (20091010) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com
