Guest guest
Hi, we are new to the ASD world. Our son is 4 and has a preliminary Dx of Aspergers and possible ADHD. Our behavioral specialist MD didn't want to code Aspergers for insurance reasons, but is certain that is what we're looking at. The biggest challenge we face right now is whether or not to medicate b/c of the extreme hyperactivity and impulse control. We saw our pedi today, she is usually very conservative but she said that if we wanted to do meds, she would have no problems prescribing something. The behavioral MD said the same. We have two older kids with ADHD, both on adderall XR and it does wonders for them so we are not opposed to medication if it is needed. At what age did you/would you medicate for this? He is a sweet boy, not aggressive, but extremely out of control! Last week we went to the grocery store. In the time it took me to put my pin number in the keypad at checkout, he had unbuckled himself and climbed out of the cart and was headed straight towards the auto open doors right into the busy parking lot! This is kind of thing is not unusual for us in the normal course of the day. thoughts? thanks!
