My son had a strong reaction the other day and I'm trying to figure

out what caused it. He had taken a no fenol with breakfast. He had 2

eggs and some nitrite free bacon. Then he had some fresh pineapple.

He did put his legs in a jacuzzi the night before and refused to take

an epsom salt bath that night. He went very red and developed hives.

His eyes were slightly swollen. No breathing difficulties.Could this

be a phenol reaction? He does on occasion eat fresh pineapple without

a reaction, ditto for egg and bacon. Could it have been everything

together? Do eggs have phenols? Did the chlorine set him up for this.

I'm very confused and concerned. Also, I bought dye free benadryl and

its ingredients were still scary. Would a compounding pharmacy be

able to make a less toxic mixture of benadryl?

Eggs is one of the big 8 in allergies. Test again, one at a time.

Apis hives feel better upon cold applications,

while our next remedy, Rhus toxicodendron (Poison

ivy) is for hives that feel better for hot

applications. " The main symptom that is notable

for Rhus tox is extreme itching, " explains

Reichenberg-Ullman. " People may also notice joint stiffness. "

The third most common remedy for hives is Urtica

urens (Stinging nettle). An itching, burning rash

is also present; this is a good choice if the

other two remedies are not clearly indicated.

I agree with Sheri..  I suggested they stay away from the benadryl.
