Thank you for bringing up the SSI Issue. I would love to do better for my

family, but I feel trapped by SSI rules. They won't even allow you to have

decent life insurance or savings. If my husband works too much overtime we lose

our SSI and medicaid. I wish that every child with autism had full access to

medicaid and home and community services instead of having to be on a waiting

list for years or decades. We have no way to pay for what my son needs, but we

are not an isolated incindent for sure. We are a hard working family and

deserve equal opportunity to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness like

everyone else. If you compair the cost of treatment for autism with other

disabilities for which people get SSI, you will see the cost of autism treatment

is far more and therefore we should be allowed to make more money and still get

help or have that treatment covered. And while I am on treatment, there needs

to be some way for parents to have

some idea of what works and what is a waste of valuable resources. Right now

it is a crap shoot. It would also be nice to be able to get help with the

special foods my son needs to be healthy, since I spend about 2 times as much on

groceries as the typical family.
