Guest guest
My 4 1/2 year old son on the spectrum has suddenly taken to nail biting. This started about 2 months ago and has replaced all other behavioral issues like plugging his ears and other sensory issues he had previously. Just tonight I noticed he is now biting so deep he may start bleeding from his fingers. I do not want that to happen. Anybody with a tip or tips. We have been taking his fingers out of his mouth each time we noticed he was biting but this has not helped any. Someone has mentioned some form of polish that tastes nasty. I am not sure if this is safe for children especially one with special needs. I do not want to introduce anything toxic into his body, we are working hard to take out toxins not introduce any more. Thank you.
Guest guest
Our guy bites his nails, we give him glee gum and it helps him to chew gum instead of his nails. We know it's a sensory integration thing and it will get better with time, diet, biomedical, etc. In the meantime, we give him something acceptable to chew. Guest guest
My son does not understand the concept of chewing gum at all but I am willing to try. Thank you so much. ________________________________ From: nancy cook <endofautism@...> Sent: Sun, February 20, 2011 10:49:09 PM Subject: Re: Nail biting tips? At my house, all of these symptoms, including the nail biting, were caused by yeast overgrowth. Try increasing the yeast protocol, see if that helps. http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm Dana
Guest guest
Dana, I had forgotten to recognize some of the symptoms you have mentioned as yeast problems. My son has been jumping like a bunny, sleep problems have started, waking up at night, giggling and of course the nail biting. I have gotten GSE and will use to see how that works. Thanks. ________________________________ From: danasview <danasview@...> Sent: Wed, February 23, 2011 9:59:56 AM Subject: Re: Nail biting tips? > My 4 1/2 year old son on the spectrum has suddenly taken to nail biting.
