After deliberating about a day, an Alameda County jury decided Monday that the Pleasanton Unified School District should not be held responsible for Rheannon Maxwell's ailments. Maxwell sued the district July 13, 1998, contending a mold outbreak at Walnut Grove Elementary School spawned an unhealthy environment. The problem began when a faucet in a four-unit section of the school known as e-pod was left running for 72 hours one weekend in 1997. Water spilled onto the floor, later developing into mold spores. The section of the school was built in 1968.
