Guest guest
Hi Dana, My daugther is 35 lbs and takes THORNE Research 500mg twice a day. Hope that helps Simone [ ] Taurine What is a recommended brand of Taurine and dose for 36 pound children? Do you give this with food or on empty stomach? Guest guest
I added taurine into the mix on my own shortly after starting his MB12 shots (after reading that they can work synergistically). We initially started with a 2 week climb up to 500 mg and didn't see much change. On our old DAN!'s advice, we worked him slowely up to 1500 mg. We saw a HUGE jump in language when we increased him from 500 - 1250 mg. We haven't noticed much change in the jumps from 1250 - 1500 or from 1500 - 2000 (most recently recommended by Dr. Bock). The biggest benefits have been complexity and spontineity of language and beginning to answer simple questions. Guest guest
So far I don't think Taurine has made my son mean. It may have contributed to nightmares as he has recently started those. But, we take CoQ10 with taurine and it is also in his multi-vitamin. I have not noticed any clumsiness or being mean. Terri

Guest guest
Could you balance excess copper with zinc, to tolerate the taurine? Or is it a really need to avoid it thing? I have no experience with taurine, but am interested in any answers to this - would consider adding it, if I happen upon it & also have had copper/zinc issues at my house - some one way, some the other. wishing all the best, elizabeth > > > > > So far I don't think Taurine has made my son mean. Guest guest
how in the world do you guys balance all of these vitamins. this is impossible over here. we finally went back on the Super nu. it helps her, but we still can't get her to sleep. the super nu thera is not keeping her up. she had bad insomnia before the SNT. before the SNT she was impulsive at night. at least now its just insomnia. Guest guest
Hi , both mean and clumsy were signs of low blood sugar in my son. When we are giving ALA or taurine, I have to make sure he eats frequent small meals/snacks or he is mooooDY! You can also give a small amount of chromium with meals to help keep a normalized blood sugar. Hope that helps > > has taurine made anyone kid mean? or clumsy? >
Guest guest
Does this even out? She comes racing in the kitchen right after I give the Taurine - and starts ransacking the place for sugar. She never even usually asks for sweets. On Jan 2, 2009, at 10:44 PM, wrote: > Hi , both mean and clumsy were signs of low blood sugar in my > son. Guest guest
How are her adrenals? Sugar stabilization is regulated by adrenal function. If she were slightly hypoglycemic and the taurine changed her blood sugar, this could happen. But the hypo would be from slow adrenals. Consider giving her chromium picolinate with meals and see if that helps this problem. If not, look at her adrenals. > > my dd craves sugar, right after i give her the taurine. taurine lowers blood sugar, right? >
Guest guest
I think the reaction she gets from the tuarine is tapering out a bit. I think the biggest problem with her was the seizures. The only thing I am giving is the taurine and she is looking great during the day. Just not sleeping at night yet. I gave melatonin and had a bad reaction. She was laughing and crying at the same time. Never saw this on melatonin before. On Jan 4, 2009, at 7:12 PM, Jan wrote: > How are her adrenals? Guest guest
This is like the only supplement that she has been able to take. Ugh!!! This is ridiculous. Why would a kid get such a violent reaction to EVERYTHING they take. Guest guest
My 4 yo son has reacted the same way to many supplements. He can't handle a multi-vitamin, vit. C, B vitamins, amino acids, etc. I know part of it is because he's so sensitive to phenols and the other part is that his body is so sensitive b/c of the damage done by the metals. Have you tried introducing minerals one at a time? My son does well with those -- zinc, magnesium, selenium. Also, once I found the right brand probiotics, enzymes and cod liver oil, and the right form of folinic acid, he was able to tolerate these as well. Most importantly is making sure to get the purest formulations -- hypoallergenic and no dairy, soy, corn preservatives, additives, etc. My son is sensitive to all these things so I need to be extra careful when slecting a brand. I like Kirkman's, Klaire Labs and Thorne Research the most. Hope this helps. I think one day once my son is healed enough, he will tolerate more, and in the mean time I don't push anything he reacts to. Oh, and when I do introduce something new, I give maybe 1/10 of a capsule and look for reactions, gradually increasing dose each day and waiting at least 1-2 weeks before introducing something else. Best of luck! > > > > > CAN TOO MUCH TAURINE MAKE YOU IRRITABLE AND MEAN? > > > > Too much of pretty much any supplement made my son irritable and mean. > > It might be the dose, or it might be that she needs precursers first. > > Dana > > >
Guest guest
She goes crazy with magnesium and zinc. Today I am going to try the selenium. The amount I give of these things is so small, I can hardly see them in the capsule. I can't believe she reacts, but she does. It happens over and over.....Thanks for your advice.
