Guest guest
I checked out a business where a number of people are in various stages of mold illness. The friend who brought me there is the most affected. At times I got " hits " from my friends clothes that were so strong that I expected to find a horribly contaminated environment. To my surprise the building was not very bad. That is to say, it wasn't bad until the spore plume from the neighboring house blew directly toward it - Then the whole area becomes living hell. A few months ago the new owners of the house clearly did their own mold remediation. There were bits of kitchen counters and piles of sheetrock laying in the yard. Since that time the mold problem has become so much worse in that spore plume that I cannot stand next to my friends car after it's been " plumed " . My friend has gone hyper-reactive and is looking for another job. This is clearly going to be a contentious issue to be driven out of your house or job by your neighbors mold. I have found entire sections of towns that I cannot bear. Our level of reactivity is going to be treated in the same way that multiple chemical sensitivity is treated because IT IS MCS. Drinking a cup of gasoline is bad for you, but being knocked flat by gas fumes at a hundred yards is MCS. Taking a bath in 50 gallons of perfume probably wouldn't be a good idea for anybody, but being knocked flat by cologne from across a room is MCS. Taking up residence in the Deutsche Bank at ground zero might make anybody sick, but being knocked flat by a few spores on somebodies clothing who walked in front of a moldy house is MCS. This profound level of reactivity that has caught mycologists and doctors completely off guard is unprecedented. We have too many neighbors and too much mold to ever eradicate either. If we find out which infectious organism has given rise to the hyperinflammatory states involved in CFS, GWI, FM, MCS, ADD/ADHD, AUTISM, GAD...etc. etc. and why almost 20 percent of people in California self-report reactivity to chemicals, (not just a minor irritation, but serious neurocognitive dysfunction and fatigue) and find a way to defeat that organism, then maybe we wouldn't have to worry so much about our neighbors mold. -
