Guest guest
I have been receiving reports of extensive mold damage due to ac failures of vacationing, absentee or seasonal homeowners. AKA snowbirds to Floridians. People will leave a condo or home and leave the ac running. The ac will malfunction but the unit will continue to run causing water damage or excessive humidity. I have even had a report of such sever water/humidity that mold was growing on the walls of a condo. I am investigating possible design defects in ac systems. Certainly, ac manufactures know that units are left unattended for long period of time. A properly designed machine will anticipate malfunction and include safety features to ameliorate hazards associated with a malfunction. Rather that continuing to run for months and months causing extensive flooding, I suspect technology has long since available that would allow an ac unit to recognize a malfunction and shut down in order to prevent further damage. I am looking for similar events, availability of technology, information on ac units with fail-safe designs, opinions or other feedback. Thank you for you input.
