What does a black light indicate?

Hi All,

I've been rereading Dr. 's latest purple book. In it she says you can look

at your teeth with a black light. If any of them glow, take them out.

Does anyone know what the black light indicates? Mercury? Clorox Bleach?

I did it in our bathroom, and my shirt and the towels glowed. I could see my

teeth, however they weren't glowing like the towels and my shirt.
